Swapped in a set of new RS42s on the front today. One piston was reluctant to retract but managed to stop short of WMDs (that's code for a phone call to Robin!) and showed it who's boss. Bedded them in and, typically, they are awesome. Mintex 1144s are excellent all the same, and must never be overlooked for a good vfm option. But Pagid FTW.

Replaced damaged headlamp cover - only been about 2 years

Got my Team SE sticker fixed on too. Only been about 4 years there :damnfunny

No energy left to clean air filter - and not keen on getting jammed fingers in the cold while doing so either!

And - shockaroonie - no time to wash it!

Just need to work out which way the tracks go then check the weather. Excited now!

PS - I now have 2, yes 2, sets of part worn front brake pads which I'll bring with me in case it helps anyone out who gets caught short. Pagid RS42 which I think we're actually Robin's, and my former Mintex 1144s.

And here is my homework so far...

Oulton - Some tidy laps in a 111S...any Track Gods care to comment?

Watch on YouTube

Anglesey - reasonable indication of where the circuit goes...

Folks I am going to have to bow out of this one. My in-laws are having a rough time of it and consequently Katie is heading away until next week - too much going on here to leave it in the hands of the gods, so will be staying at home this weekend. Ross - I'll give you a shout in a moment to discuss logistics as there is no reason you shouldn't go anyway, right?

Cheers,
Robin

Sorry to hear that Robin. Hope everything works out ok.

Ross I'm not going to be able to make the curry on Thursday night now. I've got a meeting until six in Hatfield that I can't get out of so it'll be after nine by the time I get up there I reckon. See you for breakfast!

My subscription to this topic appears to have failed :-(

Anyway, real sorry to hear this Robin. Best wishes to Katie for her mercy mission.

Ross - if for any reason you would still prefer to share driving, my pax seat *might* now be empty. Alistair has his own personal crisis underway and is doubtful for the weekend now. Drop me an email or give me a ring it you want to discuss.

No worries - I'll call the restaurant with the final numbers on Wednesday evening. :)

Thanks Campbell, but have spoken to Robin by phone this morning, and a contingency arrangement has been made. :)

I have been searching the archives (literally!) and am sure this happened to you before :-)

Glad you will still make it. Need to keep up the representation of SE Dinosaurs...

Incidentally, a forum search on "druids" yields some reasonable track guide info from sages like Robin and AndyG. Well Andy basically just says sideways all the time boyz, but it's fun to read all the same.

And for those still with SE1 access, or who can remember their password (!), there is some true gold in there ref Oulton, going back to around 2001...I leave that as an exercise for the reader... http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Scottish_Elises/

I was not doing the track days, just coming along for the company, food and beer, but it now turns out that we have "Surprise" visitors coming to stay from Australia.

Does not affect the track bookings or indeed the Hotel, but was looking forward to getting some pax laps in for a change, and our usual S_E good times in between.

Have fun and good luck with reliability/breakdowns. Make sure that AA subs and P&L are up to date.

Happens to me frequently Campbell. I was day behind everyone on one French Frolic due to a conference in London. Drove through the night to eventually run out of petrol as none of the French auto pumps would take my credit card. Decided to kip in the car by the pumps until someone turned up in the a.m. only for a toothless clog wearing lorry driver to wander over with a very odd looking woman in tow who was wearing more or less nothing. He'd work out what my predicament was and between us we agreed that he would pay on his credit card for fuel and I would give him cash. However, he kept pointing to the woman and my car and at first I thought he wanted to 'have a go' on his woman in my car (barf) Eventually I figured out he wanted me to take her for a birl in it. However, all my stuff was in the passenger seat so I thought this was some kind of ruse to pilfer all my stuff. It was 3am and in the middle of nowhere in some small French town so I was a bit stuck. Anyroadup, I took the odd nearly naked woman for a birl in the car and my stuff was still there when I got back. I said my goodbyes and farked off. I arrived at the hotel in Le Mans around 5am just as everyone else was coming back from some club they were all at. :D

I very nearly didn't make this trip all. A couple of Sundays ago I woke up in agony. I was taken into hospital and they diagnosed a 5mm kidney stone. I've been in f*cking agony for the best part of ten days and it was only Thursday of last week that the pain has more or less gone away although the stone has yet to make an appearance. Today is my first day back at work. I've never known pain like it. Had I been American with a handgun in the house I might well have ended it.
