Good tip. Go onto http://www.boilerjuice.com, check the price of 2,000l of oil but do not order, and then you should receive an e-mail as below giving you £40 off an order to http://www.nakedwines.com

Couple of cheapo suggestions for everyday stuff (I love a good bargain wine as much as the good stuff!):

Boschendal Shiraz (Tesco). Currently my fav red quaffing plonk for under a tenner. (Not tried the co-op Malbec yet though... Will have to compar, you know, for science.)

Tesco had a deal on Isla Negra Brut last week... Their chardonnay and Sauv Blanc are utter pish, but I took a punt on the fizz as you would at £6 (was £12). Really enjoyed it! Like, not just tolerated, but actually really enjoyed. Cheap fizzy L'eau du Chat, obviously very young, but quite fresh and for the money it's hilariously pleasant. A great party fizz you could dish out all night, and nicer than bargain Champers (you know the sort of £15-20 generic stuff). Way better than the usual Cavas at the same money. If it's on at £6 again, try it for a laugh! :cheers

You have to work the app to begin with, but the other users and recommendations seems to be where it is at! Plus a good way of reminding oneself of the good stuff with a picture!

Ellie and I, along with my parents, my sis and her boyfriend will be going to lockett's Christmas wine tasting. Always a really good night and tickets only a few quid. Usually some fantastic wines on offer and no limits on numbers of wines tasted.

Anyone care to suggest a £20 bottle of wine for the Christmas table ? Two Christmas dinners this year so one turkey and I think the other will be a beef wellington.

Not sure I'd put Bordeaux with turkey, but it'd go pretty well with beef wellington. Right bank rather than left as less likely to be a tannic monster (but you already knew that).

Assuming it's traditional turkey with all the usual trimmings I'd go with Burgundy, either red or white, but I know you like red so go with that.

I know you're a Ventoux fan too but that's for lamb (IMO) so leave it alone

I wouldn't spend that sort of money in a supermarket. Try a wine merchant and ask them what they'd recommend. Try not to get too young. Vintage chart here http://www.bbr.com/vintage-chart

I'd aim for '05 '06' or '09 (as I'd rather drink a decent year that's not ready than a rubbish year going cheap).

Sorry it's not a recommendation though

Bought my festive wine from http://www.yapp.co.uk this year after getting our resident Vintner Messrs Pain Snr to review. Pretty good experience and some cheeky numbers that were worth a punt.
