My video camcorder is acting up, tape jam or similar is it possible to have them repaired or serviced? It's a Canon MV5i

failing that does anyone have any info on solid state recorders?

all I've found so far is Neuros Recorder 2

My sony miniDV had same problem - fixed for about £80 (Sony Centre). Will need to by a new HD/MiniDV to play the old tapes when it gives up.

I can lend you my Samsung titchy camcorder if you're stuck...
It has AV in.

Might save some weight, 150g. ;)

Could do, but I'm not sure if his "project" would be of any use?

I was/am working on something that can record from multiple bullet cams, but it's been a bit of a let down so far :(

Too slow to record at any decent rate/resolution from more than one camera.

Quite true. The problem with recording to flash is there still isn't anything that will hold a decent amount at a decent resolution. The archos currently has about 55 track day clips on it.

It's the old version of this (with only 1Gig fixed memory):
http://www.samsung.com/uk/products/camc ... 20lxeu.asp

All my vids are taken with it (the resolution is reduced for the web):
http://www.putfile.com/alicrozier

My issues with it are battery life and recording time for trackdays. Limited to 45 mins really with the battery and 25 mins or so with the very highest recording quality (with base 1Gig memory). Would be OK for hillclimbs. :)

As I said you're welcome to a shottie. :)

Sounds good, I'll make sure it's charged up etc. and come along early to set it up. :)
