Big Thanks to Craig who has adopted the Experience Limits Race Shed for some TLC, probable HGF... Car welcomed with open arms and we know she'll be looked after and possibly even cleaned when we get her back!
they've been outstanding this year with our impromptu drop ins for last second repairs, always squeezed in and turned around super quick with the utmost professionalism amongst the banter... Price wise, well who cares, Andy was paying lol
Thanks guys top work!

Re: Big thanks to Murrays in Edin again
I joined the queue of regular re-offenders who check their cars over too close to a major trackday event and then rely on Craig to wave his magic wand to sort it all out with zero notice :-/
Needed a coolant leak inspected, and although I could have done so myself, I couldn't face it at the weekend after I'd finished off the brakes. Duly accepted by Craig and Calum. I'm glad they did, the inlet manifold gasket was getting tired (he told me this earlier in the year, doh) and not something I would probably have spotted (or been able to sort) in time.
One magic wand later, UJI rides again and has been fully pressure tested to offer me a bit of peace of mind on her one and only track outing of the year. New advisory indicates early signs of Serious Old Age on the original block...pinhole coolant weep it seems...so that's something to keep an eye on. Time for a Honda then, eh.
Great stuff once again, Craig. Thank you. Please also pass my thanks to the MD for his flexibility
Mind you, they might have washed it before handing it back...

Re: Big thanks to Murrays in Edin again
Another big thanks yet again from me! On Monday I realized I need to get a couple of things fixed on the car before the weekend; so emailed Craig at 7:40 PM, expecting to get a reply some time on Tuesday morning; instead I had a reply 5 mins later; few emails exchanged later, and the parts were ordered and car booked in for this morning. Craig appreciated that I was coming from Glasgow, so organised to get the car done while I waited. Top job once again, and another happy customer here. I can't start to think why anyone would go elsewhere for lotus work these days.
Enjoyed my run home with the roof off too.

The Lotus Forums are doing a review of all Lotus dealerships. Make sure praise is given where due, and go and give them your rating and comments for Murrays at; http://www.thelotusforums.com/reviews/ (they are on the 11th page of the listings).
Edit; if you are not a member of The Lotus Forum, it only takes a few secs to join up.

Re: Big thanks to Murrays in Edin again
Blinding job once more by the big man at MMC. Took Elaine's car over for a service and to replace all discs and pads yesterday (bought our own from Eliseparts and took them over) - then had a wee day Christmas shopping in the City Centre.
Got the call midday to say what was actually wrong with the car (couple of bits over and above what I thought) and what actually needed done as a priority. The usual total honesty about things. EG - exhaust heatshields corroded away for the second time (sh*te design) but he was clear it wasn't worth doing just now as the salt would just kill them all the quicker, so left till spring. But it did need some time spent on a rear calliper and replacing a seized handbrake cable etc.
Got back at the end of the day and the bill was still a nice surprise - less than I'd have thought for the service and time on the brake replacement - never mind that there was extra work on top of that.
Even though it means us taking a day off and driving across the country in rush hour to achieve, I still can't consider taking her car anywhere else. Top job again.

Has anyone used them for Volvo ?
The wifes X5 will be getting changed next year and i`m tempted to look at XC90`s, they don`t seem to have the best reliability records though (this may just be the early ones though).

I think either Brian (Bingoking) or Allan Matheson on Lotus Forums bought a Volvo XC off Murray's. Can't remember which one though?

Re: Big thanks to Murrays in Edin again
I'm on second XC90, fist one 54 plate from new only one major fault with 4wd driv e system at 60k miles. Problem fixed by Arnold in Aberdeen, new one now done just over 30 k miles and no problems to date. Hope I haven't cursed it now. Wife loves it, but to be honest it drives a bit like a boat.
Re: Big thanks to Murrays in Edin again
Kinger, are they petrol or diesel ? The latest diesel looks to be 200HP but that's still a fair way short of the competition.
What sort of real world mpg are you seeing ?

Re: Big thanks to Murrays in Edin again
Both of ours are/were Diesel the current one has 200hp, it certainly has more poke that the first which only had 185Hp. Off the line it pulls pretty well, wife has just confirmed in town she gets about 29MPG and upto about 40 on a long run. I don't think I get anywhere near that as my right foot is a bit heavier than her's.
As for reliabilty we've done about 100k miles on both and only had the one fault. For the money they are pretty good value. I just shopped around for the best price I could get, went into see my local Arnold, told him what I could get one for elsewhere and with a little haggling he matched it.

Thanks Kinger, will have a closer look in the new year.
Re: Big thanks to Murrays in Edin again
Big thanks to Brandon at MMC for an easy transaction on the demo orange Elise S.
Will no doubt use again even if it did involve a 600 mile round trip!
Thanks,
Ian

Re: Big thanks to Murrays in Edin again
Picked vx up yesterday and I'm afraid it's another boring satisfied customer here
Craig and the guys changes cam chain, balancer shaft chain, a mirror, fixed my heater, realigned the windows and replaced the arb bushes and serviced the car for a very competitive price that didn't move at all... Even though I kept adding to the job list!
Once again comms were great and they had no issue with me supplying my own parts to keep costs down. The best bit is how the car feels though..... I've no idea how they do it but it always comes back feeling better than the sum of the work they did..... You just keep noticing little things that work better or feel nicer than before.
So thanks again - another great job!

Re: Big thanks to Murrays in Edin again
Long overdue Mr Moncrieff, and the gents at MMC a gushing post, which would be even more cringeworthy had i written it when i picked it up... let's just say i was a little tired!
Most will know the car is heading for sale, but needed it's annual service and some warranty work done, which you are always a little sceptical whether or not it will be approved, absolutely every tiny little niggle was sorted for me, and no fuss was made, despite the fact that Mr Judith Chalmers a.k.a Craig was jet setting in Skegness i think you said it was?! He'd briefed the team, and the guys knew exactly the time i was dropping it off, courtesy taxi into town, job was indeed a good 'un!
Picked it up a few days later on my way back from London, and it was like picking up the car for the first time all over again, Brandon duly relieved my bank account of a few hunner pounds and even smiled whilst doing so, probably due to the state of me! (Worth pointing out that most of the cost was new tyres and Advan's are no cheap!)
Getting your car serviced at MMC is an utter pleasure, effortless and whilst most garages i would for sure be giving it a complete once over before taking the keys back, there is just no need.
Anyway, Craig is SoR'ing my car for me as of tomorrow, and again i could sell it privately (neither time nor inclination) as i am 100% confident that they will work hard to get it sold to the right buyer.
Top job Craig as always, and to Brandon and the guys you don't maybe get to see or deal with, it is a very pleasant experience and i wouldn't go independent for what would undoubtedly be a very small saving.
Dave
