Presumably current Lotus ownership wouldn't make this too possible anyway?

Could be good for Caterham though, similar to Lotus and the Vx220.

Good news indeed - and could eventually branch out to the likes of the Clio, like a modern Clio Williams :thumbsup

You are probably right although the Lotus F1 team also run with Renault engines ( but then Lotus F1 team have F.A. to do with Lotus cars  )

Honestly think this is the end of the road for Lotus...

engineering have already lost a shed load of work to Ricardo/Prodrive etc, and now Caterham (using ex lotus staff) are stealing work.

May have to agree here. After the whole debacle with F1, lotus really are at risk of becoming a bunch of charlatans living off past glories :(

Especially as historically Engineering have been the people who actually made money.

Interesting article in EVO this month about the tie up, and in it the morsel that Fernandes was offered the rights to the Elise and Exige as part of the messy F1 licensing debate.

Read this as well and although some of details aren't new it all sounds a bit sad with Fernandes stating he really wanted to do all this with Lotus.
Will we all end up owning new Caterham's with Renault running gear or better, more extreme Renault's with Caterham/ex Lotus engineering ?
All sounds quite good apart from the fact it isnt happening under the Lotus name and engineering
