New lotus

Post by pete039 » Thu Sep 12, 2013 7:43 pm

After selling my exige to DJ (which I still wasn't convinced was the right thing to do),not the selling it to another SE member but selling the car at all, I quickly had to think of a replacement .
I had thought about the new exige v6 or an evora , especially after the invite to test drive both by Brandon and Craig. (It was on a perfect day at a great setting and almost had me signing on the dotted line),but felt that although both were fantastic cars I wanted something a bit more basic ....so bought a 211. :D
I went down to Englandshire to look at two with Kevin (who was not going to let me come back without one, as me having one would complete his garage , (caterham , exige and borrow my 211) what more could someone want!.
As soon as I saw the first one that was it (as long as it drove as good as it looked) and with the devil on my shoulder (aka Kayfur) the deal was done and my soul sold (in truth it wasn't a hard sell ,great looking car and great looking sales women,MMC take note).
You will have to wait on Kevin posting up pics as I forgot to take any ,so they are all on his phone.
Pete

Well after the Exige 240 it had to be a Caterham or a 2-Eleven ... and with a significant amount of persuasion/bullying he got there in the end.

The drive down south to Northampton in my Yeti was pretty uneventful - although we were buzzed by Mass in the 911 somewhere south of Carlisle. :D :thumbsup

Looked at a couple of 2-Elevens but this one was outstanding and Aimee from Lotus Silverstone soon had him hooked

After the test drive the deal was done and dusted in a matter of minutes and we were on our way back to Scotland.

Pete and I shared the driving on the way back but I got the best bit from the lakes up to Stirling. What an amazing car, bonkers :D - I just love it :cheers

Better get the book of racing driver excuses out Pete. That is fast!

You did say Kevin was itching to go car shopping and deplete your bank account even before I collected your Exige! Is the plan to wait for the weather forecast then hopefully grab a place on 5th Oct? Look forward to seeing it. :thumbsup

Cheers . :thumbsup
Looking forward to getting it on track ,hopefully will manage to before the year end if not
Kev might try and nick it with some lame excuse like "had to put the caterham away as it needs a refresh, so can I borrow
The 211 " :?

Very very nice! You're car is not bad either, Silverstone Lotus might have to get first first shot at selling to me before old Arfur gets a shot! :thumbsup

Looks great.

Get some training in to get the full benefit from the car. You really need to start doing some trackday a down south donor brands GP etc to get the full benefit from a 211 it will blow you mind on the fast corners.

Enjoy.
