I really like Harris's vids - not least because he is obviously such a total petrolhead, and unlike so many motoring journos he really can drive. Can you imagine Clarkson trying to drift an F40?

About time we had a proper enthusiast''s car show on TV instead of the unwatchable brain dead drivel Top Gear has been serving up for years, and Harris would be the man for the job.

TBH, I think Chris has found his level with these videos. I do think a full broadcast show featuring him would be a touch samey - he's great, but I did notice that watching it with Elaine last night (who's a petrolhead, no doubt, but perhaps not as geeky as me about it) that she did lose interest a bit towards the end. 20 minutes on a feature works well for the purist, but TV just doesn't aim at purists.

Also, it's been seen when he works for larger concerns, like Evo or Autocar, that he tends to get bored with the stuff he's handed, so craved the creative freedom of his own show. Which works great online - I just don't think the mass market appeal is there to go to TV, unless it's on a Discovery channel or the like and I doubt they'd give him the freedom he gets from Drive.

Top Gear has its issues, which I comment on pretty frequently, but it's clearly doing the format right for the largest amount of casually interested viewers - going by figures.

That is the problem with top gear - it is lowest common denominator TV. I genuinely find it to be toe curlingly awful and I don't think I have watched a full episode in years.

You may well be right about Harris being best with the freedom he gets online though.

Another 288GTO fan here, but would struggle to choose between them if it ever became a reality. Nice problem to have.

Looks like fun though.
