Porsche keyed

Post by GregR » Fri Jan 10, 2014 12:51 pm

After eight years of leaving the Lotus, the RS6 and the Impreza in the street with no worries, some fine soul thought they would add to my week by keying the 911. Right outside the front door.

This ends a rather 'special' week for the Rolfes, with my 19 month old getting her hand jammed in a door at nursery which required emergency surgery. I guess that had my week not been so terrible already I might have been more bothered by the keying.

Any recommendations for paint shops in Edinburgh? I'll need a door and the rear 3/4 painted so it could conceivably be an insurance job.

Mon dieux. Sorry to hear about your week, Greg. How is the wee one doing? That's the focus obviously.

You know where I'd send you for your paint. He's in Bathgate, not Edinburgh, but can do lifts to the station ;-)

Gee really sorry too hear about that too Greg. I hope your wee lass is on the mend. Must be really hard to explain the situation to someone that young. Hope she is managing.

I have been the target of keying before too back when i had an MR2 back in 2001 - 3 panels , someone knew what they were doing. I had to find a garage close by for overnight for storage in the end for fear of a re occurrence. I just hope the attacker suffers the same one of these days and understand the pain ... wishful thinking i guess.

Hopefully the hand was fixable too.

I don't really get what makes sometime think that keying a car is a good idea. I often get a bit paranoid about where I leave my cars - not that I've ever had someone damage one intentionally.

Sorry - can't offer any recommendations on the job.

Sorry to hear about the wee one - hope she is on the mend.
Probably a bit far to travel but I have a great contact in Stonehouse ( just on the A71 near Strathaven) who did a repair to the other halfs car when it was keyed along the full length -so full side, all 3 panels to be painted. Fantastic job done really quickly and cost £300. Came recomended by an Insurance assessor friend and really pleased with the finished job.
Let me know if you want details.

They do not think Gary, they are just another example of the number of low lifes that we have out there that just count that as a normal part of their miserable existence.

The only result that would be good is if they were caught in the act and had the sh*t beaten out of them, but then of course you would have to beware of the CCTV cameras as you would be in Court and they would be suing you for compensation.

Willowbrae from me also. I have had various repairs and cosmetic items done by them and always impressed by the quality. 0131-652-0276. Lotus seems to feature heavily in the line up outside but seen all sorts of exotics parked up in various states. Very busy which is always good thing.
