Roon ye
Jacked it after the 2nd setup which required multiple 3 point turns and was worried about the number of launches...also realised I was wheel spinning in reverse at one point, can't be good !
Just too tight for the Evora unless you do handbrake turns which I didn't fancy and failed when I tried anyway...clearly need more practice so will head to the local supermarket car park tonight...
Start section was fun, especially as the day went on and it got slippier for some reason! Other positive was no plumes of smoke despite not getting a chance to fit the catch cans, weird...

Did you ram your rear pressures up to the tyre's maximum safe rating? Makes a huge difference when trying to get a mid-engined car to handbrake and let go at the rear at those speeds.
Just FFS remember to drop them back to road pressures before driving home

Na was running just above standard (38) so maybe part of the reason I struggled to get it to flick / handbrake turn..

Re: Autosolo, Sun 19th Jan, Kames
I think EACC could do with looking at the RAC MSA rules for autotests. The course should be laid out such that you can drive it 'normally' without the need for handbrake turns (or three point turns). That was demonstrated at SSCC event at the end of November. Handbrake turns potentially allow you to negotiate the course quicker, but are by no means mandatory. Over and above that, an Autosolo is supposed to be a more open and flowing course than an autotest. I know the clubs are trying to accommodate everyone at one event, but it is not feasible to run one event as an autotest and autotsolo, which is what they have been trying to do. I'm less disappointed that I could not make it now, as I was planning to use my road tyres and not drift / handbrake so much this time.
Well done on your results guys

Re: Autosolo, Sun 19th Jan, Kames
I didn't use the handbrake but it was extremely tight and very much suited to the rally guys.
The MX5's turning circle is quite a bit smaller than the evora, and even then I was clipping the grass to get round and letting the back come round via the throttle.
One of the organisers asked me how it compared to the other one out at Johnston, so I told him that the other one was a lot more free flowing and I would have preferred this one to be the same. Wouldn't have minded if it was in-between the 2. Don't mind tight corners, but shouldn't have to use the handbrake.
He said that they were very much constrained by space at the track and were already on the limits of the 200meters squared that they were allowed to use, but would see what they could do for the next one.

Re: Autosolo, Sun 19th Jan, Kames
Obviously I wasn't there this weekend, but in the past space has always constrained these types of events at Kames. What looks like a large area becomes a small one when you've a course laid out on it.
