If its a standard plastic end cap rad I would stick an all Ali one in there. Not cheap, but you KNOW it will fail next week if you don't.

Sorry to hear about the bump.. would be a real shame if it had damaged the rad and fans too....

If its not been done you should replace the resistor pack and do the factory mod ( drill holes so water drains).

Look at replacing or painting the towing post.

I have never had the fan fail, though they do seize. I guess the question is how often do your fan(s) run normally? If they normally run as part of your usage of the car then I would guess they won't seize and aren't likely to fail.

Cheers,
Robin

Ali radiator definitely. Don't buy the mega expensive hi-flow, just look for cheapest all ali model. Check rad hoses & clips. Certainly get fans checked out but don't change unnecessarily. Driving lamp brackets?

Elaine's fans have packed up in the past. They weren't insane money when she had them done, so might be logical preventative maintenance as part of a bigger bill if you can stomach it? If it's going into MMC, I'm sure they'd be able to give them a spin and a listen for you, to advise if it's sensible.

Mine seized a couple of years ago, I think mainly due to them very rarely kicking in and the car having sat over winter while I had a company car. I didn't notice until in a queue at a toll on the way back from Le Mans when the temp incresed and then blew the plastic end cap off the rad. All the brackets and fixings were replaced at the same time.

It's more a listen - they should be able to hear and feel by hand if the bearings are past their best.
