Have it on the Clio and used it a couple of times mostly in 40mph roadworks.

However I read somewhere that cruise uses up more fuel due the very minor adjustments it makes so my aberdonian in me does not use it on the motorway unless necessary (could be complete rubbish of course)

Would be lost with out it tbh. So much more relaxing especially doing 40k a year.

As others have said it really does help to keep the licence clean imo. I used to start of at 75mph heading home and before you know it your cruising considerably faster! Now I just leave it at 75mph and that's it! Most annoying thing about it is the people who cant stay at the same speed, no sooner have they passed they lift and you are pulling out to pass them again, after the third or forth time it starts to get boring!

Would retro fit it to my VX if I could tbh. Not it goes much over 80mph

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).

The honda crz has it, and apparently it is kinda an intelligent cruise control due to the way it works the hybrid battery charge while on cruise control. It increases efficiency quite a bit in comparrison to your right foot.

Must just be me then!

I have tried it a few times, particularly when doing trips of a couple of hours M74/M6 but don't seem to have gelled with it. I've used it in average speed camera zones which worked OK as everyone was doing the same speed, but other than that it just seems a pain.

Not just you Scott, me too. I have never taken to it although only tried a couple of times despite having it on several of the cars we've owned. Maybe I'll give it another try to see if I get used to it.

As others have said I use it all the time and retrofitted it to my A4 doddle to do.
Also per above it's much more helpful in terms of keeping you slow than keeping you fast!
If you're not living on the edge you're wasting too much space!

I find it is actually much better for long haul mpg. No yoyoing of speed.

The old panzer had a comedy resume mode. Slowed down for what ever reason on the mway and then hit resume. Listen as it drops a cog and pins the throttle then shifts late. Wife hated it and always thought it was me being a twat.

You mean sort of like an analogue accelerator pedal, but sh*t? :?
I guess so. When i leave the 60 zone i just hit the + button ten times and leave it to it.

I agree with mike though.....it highlights how many people speed up then slow down then speed up again......very irritating.
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

Yup, anticipation is key.

It's far more relaxing being able to move your right leg around as you do with your left, reducing fatigue.

A90 Dundee - Aberdeen is pure comedy, the amount of folk who whistle past at 80 only to slam on the anchors to 65 at the cameras...a lass in a 1er bimmer yesterday was undertaken by me many times at the gatsos :damnfunny

So I had a an hour drive on the M8 today and thought I'd try it out a bit more. Mike's point about a speed of 75 has been a bit of a revelation. I think before I've set it too high closer to the speeds you do when your accelerating and breaking a lot. Worked a treat and got a few extra MPG into the bargain. Sure the traffic density was in my favour but I'll stick at it. :-)

Would not consider a car without it now. Sports cars excepted. At a push.

Mark Ryall also believed there was a small dent in fuel consumption, but I feel that the steadier speed control is still beneficial.

Agree on the comedy value of relationship to other non-CC road users. You do have to watch the "creeping" thing a little, as that can frustrate others. But this can be overcome with 5 clicks up, then 5 clicks down after you pass.
