Jim Clark Rally - Cancelled

Post by s29ttc » Sat May 31, 2014 6:59 pm

http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-27651504

"A car rally in the Scottish Borders has been cancelled with immediate effect, Police Scotland have said.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that a number of spectators have been seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle during the Jim Clark Rally.

The emergency services are at the scene, at Little Swinton near Coldstream.

It is believed that an air ambulance has been sent to the incident.

One eyewitness wrote on Facebook: "Huge accident at rally. Not far from us. About 15 emergency vehicles here now and about 40 people stood working on the injured. Not good."

The annual rally takes place over three days on closed roads in the Duns and Kelso areas of the Borders.

It is held in honour of the late Formula 1 champion Jim Clark, who died while motor racing in Hockenheim, Germany, in 1968."

Turns out one of the deceased (Iain Provan) was from Scottish Sporting Car Club, and was a fellow board member while I was on the board. Brings it home how easy something like this can happen. He certainly put his heart and soul into his love for motor sport. R.I.P.

At work so have the sound off. Looks fairly standard? Assume I'm missing something?

It's a bit low-res, but do I see "prohibited area" signage, implying the spectators shouldn't have been there?
