Food based road trip... Recommendations?

Post by Jam_s160 » Sun Jun 22, 2014 7:06 pm

Hi all, in late august I'm planning a 3 day road trip with a friend from Holland... The twist is I want this road trip to take in some the finest eating locations. I will then base the driving routes around that. We need to start and end in Aberdeen though.

So excellent lunches, evening restaurants and 2 nights away.

Can any of you recommend some of Scotland's (north east to north west) eateries we can structure our road trip around?

Thanks in advance :thumbsup

James

Eat on the green. Top class food and service. Well worth paying for.

Pier house port appin
Crannog ft bill
Pie shop loch inner

And if you are passing grantown near lunchtime, Revack is a great spot for a spot of lunch and there are usually red squirrels at the bird table (heading from amberlour towards grantown, turn left onto the nethy bridge road and the entrance just round a few bends.

Another vote for the Pier House at Appin; Torridon Inn too if you're up that way (or lunch at the hotel if you're flush for the view alone)

Don't forget the Seafood Cafe at Kinlochleven on the way up

And certainly the Three Chimneys......Seven Seas of Skye taster menu (unfortunately I had to drive back to Kintail afterwards which killed the recommended seven drinks list alongside it  )

Some excellent recommendations folks... Most appreciated. Thinking of stretching the road route to reach more of the ones further away too :thumbsup

I had the surf clams and mussels followed by scallops the last time I was there. Fantastic!
