S2 seat moving on runners
S2 seat moving on runners
My seat is moving a little even when latched properly, is this a case of "they all do that" or is there something wrong?
Now with half an engine
Re: S2 seat moving on runners
It's a bit of both. The seat can be actually loose and need tightening (either the bolts that hold the runners to the car or the bolts that hold the seat to the runners). Also you can develop play in the seat runner assembly itself by the rivets becoming loose.

Re: S2 seat moving on runners
A thread opening post on seloc this week:
This was my email to Garry.
I now have a problem with the driver’s side runners. I have had it checked yesterday with its first service as I complained the seat was wobbly, after checking they discovered the bolts are seated correctly And the actual runner is worn.
What can we do with regarding this under warranty please ? Can I pop to the Factory and they refit new runners please ?
Regards
Neil
Dear Mr Bevis
The runners are not wearing it’s the runner opening up. The issue is when getting in and out of the car they tend to open up because there is no padding on the seat you tend to get all the pressure on the runners. If you have new ones fitted they will do the same thing over time . Some dealers take the seat out and nip the runners back up again. If you want a new runner get SMC to fit one but it will happen again.
Yours sincerely

Re: S2 seat moving on runners
Mine is the same, slight play in the seat, the runners appear to be fixed securely to the chassis as they don't move when I wobble the seat so I'm guessing it's the join between the seat and runners.
Sounds like it's a common issue, mine isn't to bad but creaks a bit which is annoying.
Any suggestions?

Something else worth ruling out? I had a similar problem with a creaking noise and movement: the bracket that held the rear of the seat base to the runner had sheared. (A snotty letter to Lotus about safety concerns and got it fixed FOC at MMC. Car was only 4 years out of warranty. Top service.)
