Love the nutter!

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

Excellent watch, such a natural on camera...absolute mentalist!
Love that he's got his brew in hand even before the tests!

Re: Guy Martin - Speed
Loved the episode but what really surprised me is that he just got an "average" in his fitness test. That's for someone who is fit enough to go 6 times round a TT course man handling a motorbike at amazing speeds.
Just goes to show how fit an Olympic athlete needs to be.

Is a "broom handle " the next stage after a "semi' ?Scotty C wrote:great program![]()

Re: Guy Martin - Speed
Really enjoyed it.
Can't help thinking that with a bit of effort (read cash) you could build a faster recumbent bike with an larger oval chain wheel would let him go faster.
Anyone got a spare truck ?

Re: Guy Martin - Speed
i was surprised at this also. less so because of his TT exploits but because he's a pretty handy mountain biker. he bikes 40miles/day as a commute and has placed well in both enduro DH racing and 24hr endurance races. he was on the podium last year at strathpuffer. i know plenty fit lads that have done the puffer and come nowhere near the podium.douglasgdmw wrote:Loved the episode but what really surprised me is that he just got an "average" in his fitness test. possibly, as he was being tested for fitness at an elite athletes facility it meant 'average' for an elite athlete.

I enjoyed the episode. I thought Trott looked a bit miffed that she didnt "drop him" on the airport run and that he was cheeky enough to try and pass her.
I read the Cavendish book "Boy Racer" a while back, and while not exactly a masterpiece, he spent a lot of time talking about his various "bench tests" and that his wattage output suggested he was actually crap and not very fit.

Re: Guy Martin - Speed
Just watched the first one last night on the ipad - brilliant TV and my admiration for him has gone up tenfold. He's just such a nice bloke.
It's also reignited the laura trott thing but that's another thread.....

What a coincidence!
Watching first episode right now on 4od, have 2nd on Sky+
Cracking bloke, almost to the point his down-to-earthedness (is that a word?) is faked a little but I really doubt it.
Bimota in his kitchen was lush, but was being distracted by that Trott lass

Definitely nothing put on with Guy Martin, that is how he is and does not chance for the camera's, just speaks his mind, rambles away and it makes fascinating viewing.rossybee wrote:Cracking bloke, almost to the point his down-to-earthedness (is that a word?) is faked a little but I really doubt it.
Been following him for ages due to his involvement in the TT, watched the majority of the series he has made (from the TT documentary to the Guy Martin on a Boat) and his rambling style is always the same.
Also if I remember correctly he has an Aston V8 (new style) as well, so he is also a man of taste.
George
Ps Surprised he has not been on Top Gear yet to post a fast celebrity lap.

Great start to this series tonight. Amazing commitment to bag another record.
I'm looking forward to next week's Pikes Peak challenge.
