Since I got the R8 with the S-tronic given the choice I would pick one every time over a manual. The changes are lightening quick and perfect every time. Like it or not they are the future.

Well post Oulton and Cadwell all I can say is its epic.

Its tremendous on track, the gearshifts are immense - literally instantaneous - quick enough to do mid corner with no effect on the cars balance, and just instantly slam home at 9000rpm. At the start of the day at Oulton when it was damp it simply romped away from everything, as it dried out Crozier (aka Captain Fishtail) made some "special" efforts to make things interesting and rack up my tyre and brake bill!

Its a superb place to be for the road miles on these trips also! Headlights are the best of any car I've driven, even turning in to the corners with you, and like full on rally spotlights when on full beam! So good for driving at night.

Cruise control helps prevent you losing your license on the way back home on the motorways, and switch it off, the A68 was quite the playground in the wet and dark on Friday night - I don't think any of my hethel vehicles would even have seen which way the Gt3 went. Tremendous fun and truely effortless pace. I actually had the thought of "this car is too good to keep going up the A1!".

Fuel gauge was funny - warning came on with over half a tank left at Oulton, as it was predicting sub-50mile range -still it is a 3.8 litre 480bhp monster of an engine.

New Satnav system is also epic - boring but true, and in the in car entertainment, Bluetooth etc, was superb.

Oh and it kept me comfy enough despite only 2 weeks since my back operation that I managed to make this trip and go on track! I have a new keeper...........

So jealous of the GT3, not just the comfort and roof! It looks awesome and has proper road presence. At one point on the way down a red 991 Carrera 4S got in between and there is no comparison!

Oulton saw a role reversal of battles of old! I recall Mr G was always just getting the better of the Atom's attempts to spit him off the track while I effortlessly and serenely wafted around on the 2-11's greater stability. This time it took dry conditions, maximum revs, all my skills, effort and 'lack of imagination' to keep up with the Porsche.

This was evidenced at 'Old Hall' where I ran wide and overdrawn at the bank of talent a fairly large accident looked on the cards. Fortunately judicious braking and some frantic hamstering at the wheel saw it untidily managed back to an ever decreasing tarmac based tank slapper. I felt the need to wave apologetically to the Marshal who then sat back down...

I think only banzai braking and agility/lack of width through the chicanes allowed me to keep pace. Maybe also drafting on the straights helped as I saw some crazy 2-11 top speeds in the wake of the GT3! I think if I had been in front it would probably have caught me and driven straight past!

Did I mention it also sounds fantastic!

I was lucky enough to be paxing in the GT3 at the time and what a 'Epic' battle it was! :cheers

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).

Sounds great :thumbsup

Years ago, I thought that the Turbo was the one to have, but the Gt3 would be my choice now.

I wondered what all the clanking was each time you came in, Andy. Thought I needed to warn you of something coming loose. Then I worked out that it was just the express-train-spec brakes cooling =8-o

Steve- turbo is a road car.

GT3 is another level.

On track it was tremendous but as an all rounder even better than my 997.

It's going to take some beating, but I intend to try!!

It was pinging, and popping etc. a lot when I came off track. A sign of the spanking it was getting.

Mate, true first world problems!

I woke up this morning, a little later than usual, perhaps due to that 3rd glass of DP that I had, anyway one was late taking the little darling to Saturday morning ballet, what better way to get there than my new toy, definitely a tad faster!
