Garage rental - the going rate?

Post by campbell » Mon Mar 30, 2015 12:10 am

I'm considering renting a second garage. I have my eye on one actually. Right across the street from us.

What is a fair market rent for such a thing? Simple single garage. Small town (ie not city centre) location.

I've seen council garage rents from £20-£40 pcm, some private ones from £50, and some eyewatering Edinburgh or Glasgow ones into the hundreds.

Anyone got any experiences to share?

Good start, guys.

Sanjoy - you are my #1 choice but sadly unless one of the cars goes SORN it needs to be v local. Both in regular use :-)

Did you get a decent location Scotty? Last I checked with the council there was no where near me. IIRC you're not too far away. Drop me a PM.

I was paying £85 for a new concrete pre-fabricated garage in Haddington - It was big enough to take the Mercedes 300TE and the front and rear Elise S1 clam's on a standard garage size plot

the council garage in Northfield just went up to £180.00 / quarter as of April

Nice little set of hidden lock ups in Corstorphine. Was looking the other day for a black project and they were about £95.
