Re: Battery
Did you explicitly disable the alarm before disconnecting the old one?

Re: Battery
Does it not go off for a bit while the inbuilt battery gets some juice then your can disable it?

Re: Battery
The car has been in storage, and the old battery has gone flat over the last 8 months. So I decided it would be best to replace the battery, as the battery was not holding a charge well last year. I bought a new battery four months ago, and only have just around to fittining it. Im wondering if the new battery is also low on power, and this is causing the alarm to go off when connecting it ?

Re: Battery
Can you put a trickle on the "new" battery?

Re: Battery
Its sorted
Press both buttons on the key fob for 10 seconds. Then when the light stays on the fob, press the large button to reset. The Elise is now running just fine
Thanks for your help

Hate the bloody thing. Had to call out the AA when N3 S2 went into fcuking robot mode and they were befuddled before they hit the right combination of button presses. None of the other cars do it, just bloody Lotti.

Re: Battery
My old Mini used to do a similar thing, though the alarm didn't go off as if the battery went dead, the alarm deactivated / Rover only managed to get the immobiliser to reset
To fix, you had to press the disarm button 10 times or something, at which point the car would recognise the fob and allow you to turn off the immobiliser.
I guess the benefit was that when you forgot, you'd eventually get frustrated and hit the button repeatedly until it worked
On that car, deactivating the alarm was hit or miss as from the outside, nothing happened. No noise, no flashing indicators, the little LED on the dash went off, but not much use on a sunny day!
It was made in 1998 as well, hardly the advent of car alarms... Fantastic piece of British engineering..
