Enjoyed the trip down (happy) memory lane with the TFI Friday thing last week, even if it was just regurgitating the old format.
I really enjoyed TFI as well, I thought it was pretty impressive that after all these years, not only was it still entertaining, but for me anyway, it seemed almost fresh and inventive compared to the over produced and even more contrived crap shown on TV now. If Evans can be part of bringing some of that to Top Gear, along with some additional car geekiness, but without seeming like he's lording it over the masses who know little about cars, it'll do well. The biggest risk is that it goes too silly, and ends up looking like it's trying to replicate Clarkson Top Gear..

I like Clarkson but like most on here get a bit pi55ed off with the program format. so fingers crossed that will change.

I just wondered with Tiff and Evans being friends he will be a co-presenter. As much as he whinges when he doesnt win also Plato is friends. I quite like him?

Edited to add Plato, not sure why that went missing.

Great idea Scotty, bring on Uncle Drift.... And bring along the Potato for some head to head racing, best motoring style. I always enjoyed their face offs in 5th gear

I enjoyed the TFI Friday special and think Evans is a decent shout. He needs to do the show his own way, rather than trying to copy clarkson. Not sure if I can forgive him for painting the F40 white.

Just watched TFI last night and I actually thought it didn't really work anymore. As I've said in the past never, ever, ever go back. As a nostalgia event it worked, looking back at what they did in the day and I remembered a lot of it but I think that's as good as it got.

I like Chris Evans and I think he can make a go of Top Gear in a different way but not by copying the old format, maybe take the good parts. The track bit was a bit dull on TFI. I also like Tiff but Jason gets a bit annoying.

You can please some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time.

Things that I would like to see.

Interviews with stars but inside their garages to see what they have and maybe conduct the interview while out driving. Jay Kay/Nick Mason/Brian Johnson/Amy McDonald petrolhead types.

Road trips but not stupid races with public transport. Looking at Ewan McGregor biking trip style of footage, planning, logistics and the people and their way of lives in different countries. Short films to inspire people to tour in their car. Frolic type film, booze cruise, track days and scenery/driving footage. About the event, not the presenters.

People starting or doing track days/rallying/hill climbs/time attack. Etc.

What to buy for different budgets etc.

Gumball/Paris Dakar/Rust to Rome/Route 66 and team entered and footage of lifestyle encountered.

Supercars on track as per normal. Guys ordering their Supercar and spec and picking it up from the dealership.

Things that would allow most people to try for themselves.

Sensible cars that are popular. Reviews that are practical but not boring.

Manufactures visits.

Visits of best tracks around the world.

Tuning car companies.

Karting clubs.

Car events and interviews with the owners.

A day in the life of say a F1 driver and his training etc.

Guys rebuilding cars and other projects.

IAM TT

Just a few ideas from me. Things that are mostly realistic and achievable for more people.

What do you guys want to see?

Echo others comments, Chris Evans is a good shout - as long as they can take the show in a slightly different direction. It will ultimately come down to who his co-presenters are, and how the on screen chemistry works, which was a big factor in the Clarkson, Hammond & May line up.

I would like it to be just like this. Maybe in English with some random hot women thrown in. Not really mass market though.

Potato was off his tits on TFI - commented to Elaine as I was rolling about laughing at the nick of him...

Unfortunately, I think his appearance as "The Stink" on TFI might well point to his involvement with Evans' TG. In two minds about whether he'd work or not with a bit better direction than the cut-price 5th gear mob...

As was announced this morning, who's going to do a 30 sec piece to camera and apply to be a presenter?
