Wee pics, new forum

Post by gordon » Mon Mar 21, 2005 9:43 pm

I dont post much on SE, but i read 90% of the threads. My opinion is that this new style is exellent. Much easier to view. But as i'm not the most experienced computer user, can anyone tell me (or post a link) on how to get a photo of my car up next to my name. (Is this called an avtar?) Coz if i'm guaranteed a nice wee pic of my car everytime i post i'm sure i'll be spoutin crap with the best of you guys in no time :D

P.s..... and why cant i get the cool smilies to come up on my post?

You have to reduce your picture down to no more than 100x100 pixels in size (right click on a picture then go Properties/Dimensions to see a pictures pixel size). Then go to 'Profile' (at the top of this page), scroll down and click the 'Upload' button. Then find your 100x100 inage file on your PC. Then that's it :)

Your 'cool' smiley pic did work  It only appears in image form once you submit ur post.

Gordon, if you've got a piccie you want resized and cropped, fire it off to me by email and I'll do it and upload the minute I get in from work tonight (which will be midnight, if it was anything like yesterday)

Oooooh, and look at the result. A fine specimen of an S1 taken on the Dukes pass. (IMO that road was laid purely for the Elise, nice and twisty)

Cheers Cal. :D

Heh

Okay, get a map - look at the trossachs. Find Aberfoyle, then find Callendar. The dukes pass is the road going between the two, first bit out of Aberfoyle is Epic... It's the A821 as marked on the link below.

Steer clear at weekends 'cos it's tourist country, but summer evenings are fine - great wee car park at the beginning, as long as you can stand midges. Not too long till it's light enough in the evenings to have a few BBQ's there :)

roll on the summer evenings indeed. i was up at the dukes 2 weeks ago when they were doing the resurfacing so the road was closed. managed to blag my way thru and have one of the best runs ever, with no other traffic.

I think SE should invest (steal / borrow/ whatever it takes) in some "road closed" signs. could be a good laugh.

Cheers for that, ah its way further south than I was expecting. Sure I've driven it in my 'crappy car' days... when it would of been no fun at all probably :)

Thx!

lol
i just asked the same question on SE yahoo group.
doh, should have looked in here first!

whats the toll road next to it?
any good/bad?
take it that its quite extreme there to go to the expense of a toll road too?

i've never driven it, but i think the toll road is a forrestry commision track. not suitable for elises.

Read the Yahoo reply to that one then ;)

It's not technically suitable, no. But if you give as much of a sh*t about your paintwork as I do, then it's a bloody good laff :D

Quite a lot has to be taken slowly, but there's a couple of sections that you can muster up the cojones and do a full-on rally car scandinavian flick extravaganza. Just be sure you know what you're doing - the trees are affy close!
