congratulations on the Honda I really like that. Shows you what Honda are capable of when they put their mind to it. Their engineering capabilities are never in doubt but I wish theyd inject a bit more of this kind of visual flair into the day to day models.

I'm too young for an NSX ;)

ps... "hot hatch" should really be small and dinky. This brute makes the Ultima look like a toy. I might have to park the Stratos underneath the Honda :)

Good man - i think it looks mean from the front, but a shambles at the rear. Was hoping it was a NSX!! :D

How are you finding it now Jim?

Chris Harris certainly seems to like it.

As we were watching the review on Top Gear the wife goes “Ahhhh, that’s meant to look like that!?”

Turns out she’d been following one the other day and couldn’t understand why someone had put a “max power bodykit” on an 18 plate car 😂

It's great. I like it. A lot.

You know sometimes you get a car and instantly you know it's going to be a good relationship.. well, that's how I feel with this. It's a daft "sensible" family car with a big boot. What's not to like.

The Top Gear description was of a car that was designed a 14 year old boy.. I can relate to that :) I remember writing on SE a few years ago when I bought a Porsche 996 Turbo S than I knew I'd made a mistake even before I got it home since it was ballistic but bland and fairly grown up. This is also really fast but in a funny, giggly almost childish way and the daft looks add to that.

I've never owned anything before where I could really tell much difference in the electronic suspension/power settings, but in this there is a step change from "Comfort" to "Sport" and then it gets all tight 'n' mean in "Type-R" mode and the dash lights up all moody red and it's funny and chavy in equal measure but it's anything but bland. A big similarity with the Porsche tho is that it's really, really easy to go very quick. Top Speed is touching 170mph (I've been nowhere near that) but you can feel that there's so much more to come all the time, even with 4 up and the boot full of shopping.

It's also got the nicest seats I've ever sat on in a car. Bonus is they're bright red as well :D

I quite like it from the front, it has a bit of a crazy rally car vibe to it.

The Ultima looks really small in there.

My kinda of sensible car I think, though the back is, erm... fun? ;)

Definitely a sensible car :blackeye

Looking good.

I saw a "vanilla" Civic on Saturday and must admit the Type R looks ten times better with the rear spoilers as it reduces the impression of length from the back.

Wondering whether you can change the 3 exhausts exits for a single big box (know Honda did this for replacement costs) as it would tidy it up slightly and sound epic.

At the moment, I'm going to stick with the 3 pipes. Most aftermarket systems have 3 as well. The fact that it looks a bit different / ridiculous / daft I think sort of ties in with the overall look of the rear. :blackeye

Fools people into assuming 3 cylinders

Great stuff Jim, sounds fab overall but I just can't get to like that styling. There is a bit of late model Subaru about it but it's still on another planet!

Anyway the inside seems fab and the driving dynamics appear excellent. What more could you want from a "sensible car"?!

So. SIDC at Knockhill in June then? Collect a few scalps?!

Neighbour has a red Civic on his motability. I just can't get on with the looks. Open my curtains in the morning to Rocky Horror Picture Show. Civics used to be beautiful understated and demonically fast.
