Probably the best episode of the new line up Top Gear, I didn't watch the star in a car bit and anything with Rory but the rest was very good. Quite impressed with the driving skills of LeBlanc and Harris.
I was surprised in one of the interviews promoting the series that they admitted that some of the driving is not them
I think the explanation was time management of filming schedules. Suppose it's to be expected but it was a surprise that they admitted it :blackeye

Well the guys are on a roll as that was another excellent episode last night with them all going to Japan.

Seeing the Porsche Le Mans racer being driven as a road car was pretty amazing, bet Harris was kicking himself that he did not get the opportunity to do that. Suppose that's part of the issue with Chris/Matt being the main guys and working well together.

Agreed. Very enjoyable episode. In fact, must confess the first one this series I've actually given my full attention to for the whole hour.

However, the over-stylised editing of the mock race between Lexus and Honda just had me shaking my head - the fiction is too transparent, whereas old TG seemed to manage more convincing faux-authenticity IYSWIM. It's all gone a bit 'Tiff Needell' and I'd prefer more informative footage than a staged Fast'n'Furious style sequence each week - yes, yes, I know it isn't a factual show about cars :) It's like the new production team are trying to copy the old team, but without the creativity. The filmed piece scripts' writing could be more informed IMHO - Matt and Rory (especially Rory) just don't convince.

But reading others' comments here suggests most are enjoying it more than me, which is good :thumbsup

I watch Extra Gear simply cos it's there, and it's only 15 mins to 'tick off' the viewing list... but Rory is a dreadful host and interviewer (now thinking the comedian last year was my preferable) which makes it so wooden. It's like a YTS chat show. The week with Franchitti and Bell as guests was enjoyable.

....I'll still be watching it each Sunday though

Agree ref Rory on Extra Gear - this week with the Computer lad who looks a wee bit like a young Hamilton was severely wooden. Marino Franchitti has sufficient telly experience and natch chattiness to have made that episode much better.

Pretty disappointed in the old show DNA on display last night with the Tracktor bit. Remarkably it was still fresher that the old stuff, but showed worrying signs of going back to the old format.

I really enjoyed it, especially the Tracktor bit. Made me chuckle.

I was starting to think that a little bit but as you say it was still fresher than Clarkson etc because they didn't have to live up to their caricatures/stereotypes and pretend to hate everything each other did and also they didn't ultimately end up destroying everything which is what happens with the other lot.

Another enjoyable episode I thought.

Amusingly, if you look up the reg number of the 'Tracktor' on-line, the manufacturer is listed as "Chevrolet LeBlanc"

Enjoyed the whole show. Laughed a lot!

The Camaro is nuts.

I'm with rossy, I was warming to Rory but he had too much screen time this week. The tractor was just daft.

The Traktor was a waste of 20 mins. Extra Gear, Rory is hopeless . Last weeks was good but last nights was hopeless. Getting close to giving up on TG completely and I never thought I would say that .

OK I really like the new series but last night's wasn't the strongest.

EG. Yes agree completely. He was awful this week and f.ck me he needs a script writer. "So what did you have on your walls as a kid?? Countach"
"No. Race cars."
"OK well talking of supercars..."

Arse.
