I'm not 100% sure Ed, I know it counts launch control launches as it will only allow 20 (from memory) before it needs to be inspected and the counter reset. And I know it counts time in engine RPM ranges, at differing coolant temperatures and if the engine has been buzzed. I don't think it dates the events, simply just counters. Ive not seen the report.

You'd presume they'd take an ECU dump whenever they buy a car in. The thought did cross my mind Neil and to attempt to use this to prove I hadn’t abused the clutch. But I shouldn’t have to get involved in this stuff... my main disappointment currently is that I don’t feel the dealer ‘has my back’. They should be fighting the corner for their customer not trying to push the accountability on to me when it’s clearly either Lotus or The Dealers. Either one of 2 things has happened: 1 the clutch is defective and it’s a warranty job; or 2. The clutch has been destroyed in the 95% of the total mileage covered before I owned it.
In respect to 1. Lotus are happy to look at warranty again once the clutch is out but dealer doesn’t want to pay to take the clutch out as it’s at their or my financial risk and I’ve told them I won’t pay them to diagnose a pre existing fault.
Regarding 2. Lotus are of the opinion that the clutch wear is likely and should have been picked up by the approved used car checks and subsequently replaced pre sale. Clutch wear implies a gradual period of normal wear until it impacts performance thus implying it was done prior to my ownership.
Anyways awaiting their response.

Sense prevails, dealer just called to say they will replace the clutch. No idea if it’s at lotus’s cost or the dealer, but the point being I don’t care. Great outcome and some faith restored.

Great news, and good result... in the end!
I have been following this with interest, with my own thoughts of future car plans in mind. I have increasingly come to the conclusion that decent dealer / garage support makes a big difference in car ownership. If it was not for Kenny Brown there would be a big question mark over my continued ownership of my S1 elise. When I got my E class merc a few years ago I thought that servicing etc would be hassle free with a choice of two MB dealers in Glasgow. Turns out that they are both useless and that MB in Edinburgh are in a different league when it come to customer care.
Jayemm on cars on youtube just posted a vid about why he just sold his Evora,... in the context of this thread it makes quite interesting viewing;

I was following the thread on SELOC talking about Jayemm and dropped a couple of comments in here. A lot of negativity towards Lotus. In my case I'm mostly annoyed by the fact that the first response was well sir, you've abused it that'll be 3-4k but if it turns out to be a fault when we pull it out Lotus will pay.
Organisations should not start with the pretence that the customer abused the product as the vast majority don't. I hope the dealer learns from this and treats their customers with a bit more trust and respect, I gave them nothing but the same at all times despite receiving emails that weren't quite an accurate reflection on what was said. There are other ways to protect your bottom line, namely by delivering a great service so that customers repeat spend, spread good words and come back time and time again.
