You built that car, so you know it inside out.

Steve.
It’s a keeper :D

I am sure you know already that the S3 has a different engine/gearbox to the S2, Mike. The S3 only revs to 7000rpm roughly, on the plus side its charged cooled!

Mike, are both the 220 and 250's charged cooled and if so where does the power difference come from?

As far as I know, yes.

As for where the power comes from, no idea.

Ps, they do a 260 too

Evora is great on track!

But seriously there seems to be some good deals floating about on sport 220s. Especially the vivid green one with £7k off! :thumbsup

Power difference comes from a different S/C - in reality I think the only actual difference is a smaller pulley and then a different ECU map to modulate the boost. The 250 has a bit more torque in the middle too I think. To be honest the 220 is all you're going to need. Better to spend the extra cash on refreshing the suspension (or Nitrons) and tyres (you need to ditch the skinny fronts).

Without a doubt it's the best Elise I've owned.

And it has A/C and cruise to get you to from the hot tracks in France :-)

You are welcome to drive mine anytime you like - you can even borrow it for a while as it just sits in the garage between track days.

Cheers,
Robin

Quite liking this one. The only proper Elise cup car I can find unlike the production line models of today. Though, cruise would be nice as long as it's better than the early version in the Evora which was, frankly rubbish.

How do you mean not like the others? And why 2 filler caps on the wrong side?

And what was wrong with your Evora CC? Mine was great. Apart from a jumpy clutch switch

Pretty much a standard 220 Cup from 2015.
Everything on there was on the factory fitted options tick list when i ordered my one.
No idea why the extra filler caps are there either.
Now with half an engine

I went from a 250 Cup to an Exige Sport 350 as I never really bonded with the Elise. The 250 looks amazing, is fast and handles brilliantly but doesn't feel that quick until you look at the Speedo. Its great if your on it but lacked a sense of occasion when you hit the start button. Mine was a early 250 so had the quieter exhaust which didnt help the engines character. The aero did do it's thing but you have to be making real progress to feel it. The side skirts need protected as they erode very easily. Will be far cheaper to track.

The 220 Cups had a three year warranty compared to the one year of the 250.

The Exige is harder to drive and moves around more but I find it far more rewarding, you can tell it's much heavier. It's sounds like a sports car should with a blip on start up rising to "holly f**k" levels when the revs rise. Only wish it had a bigger fuel tank. The built quality of the Exige appears better.

Built on the production line but then sent to motorsport for conversion to cup. My CC was horrendous, sometimes it would work and then cut off for no apparent reason, other times it just wouldn't work at all. Very unreliable to the point that I stopped using it.

It's a driver alertness feature. If it thinks you aren't paying attention it cuts out. My CC was perfect for the 2,000 miles I've used it for. I don't use it unless going long distance.

I am the exact opposite on all that exhaust blippery and noise. I much prefer a quiet car. Better if it's quiet AND fast :-)
