Almost a year in, how are things going with the Civic Type R? - I've read a few articles recently and also watched some YouTube videos on the car and it seems to be given rave reviews everywhere, just wondered what your verdict is after having it a while?
As an aside, I enjoyed JayEmm's review so thought I'd share it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzZGHt6E_rw

I still really like it**

** Confession time: I've only done about 3k miles in it and about 800 of them were in a single round trip down south to see my Stratos build.

But... Yeah, over on the Civic Type R forums there are links to every single review of the car and comparisons with other cars and the Honda pretty much invariably comes up on top. It's just soooo easy to go fast in it. When I go down to the airfield it's a 50 min cross country drive almost no matter what time or day it is or what car I'm in. In the Honda I can take a chunk of time off that effortlessly just by getting up to speed so quickly.

It's really too big to be called a hatchback I guess and it feels like a big car on the road but I'd never thought a front wheel drive car could handle and go round corners like it does.

Even tho it's not been used that much we have at least used it the way I'd imagined. I sometimes take it to work, it goes to the gym, it goes to the supermarket (and Wendy thinks the huge boot is ace) and so it's pretty much used to make mundane things a bit more special. Plus side is that it's really comfortable and you don't need to be driving like a loon all the time to enjoy it.

Looks great Jim. I pass your Honda re-seller regularly and it always reminds me of the good write up you gave them.

Is the third image from the entrance of Crombie Country Park ? ..... looks familiar from a "I need to get the kids out of the house at the weekend, what is cheap to do" point of view  ..... i say cheap, its approx £2.50 for parking now ....

Lovely pics Jim - where's the archway in the first shot?

I only ask as we're similar areas so I feel i should recognise it...

The arch is at the side entrance to the houses at Letham Grange golf course, just off the wee road leading down from Coliston and yes, entrance to Crombie country park. The nice long straight road is the 1st thing I come to when leaving the house heading to Dundee. Sometimes living in the sticks is good :)

To be honest I’m usually stuck behind a tractor or a horse or even a pack of cyclists. Sunset is clearly when everyone else is at home.

Ah yes , I know that bit , right angle at the top of the road IIRC, behind the camera.

I have zero taste like some of the others, so couldn't deal with this particular Honda, although where as before I would typically have written off most 'FWD hot hatches' as inferior to most 'sports cars' in term of both performance and true sportiness (couldn't think of another word, sorry), since buying a Megane RS 250, I'm kinda sold! I'm pretty sure they deliver similar experiences (going by jouro reviews at least).

The thing is more mobile at the rear than any other car I've driven, the steering is great, the brakes are powerful, its utterly composed when driven that way and can carry some serious speed over proper roads while given you plenty confidence to exploit it. Plus I can fit a double mattress and a paramotor in it (though not at the same time) :D

I am seeing that Honda Civic has a different shape for different countries, but I just love this car because of its road grip. Nice Post!!
