Golf gti. Polo gti wasn’t on my sons/our radar but reasonable shout, son test drove one I was just passenger.

Was trying to persuade my son to go polo gti, 192 c/w 220 hp or whatever, about 8k less for same age.
Polo More basic no fancy electronics not that golf has many either, suspension slight harder polo vs golf but seemed ok to me, seating a bit high which i’m sensitive to. I’d test drive one next time as a car in the family.

Quite liked the Golf. 3rd gear and 4th gear good ratio , bit of turbo lag, took a bit of getting used to the front wheel drive thing driven reasonable hard, wondering what the rear would do, and feeling the pulling rather than pushing, not used for that with Bmw for years, lotus and Porsche.
Driven fairly hard and still did 21mpg for 50miles shot which wasn’t bad. Suspension coped with starthaven to Hamilton which Bmw 140i failed on miserably. Didn’t think it was that fast but fast enough. Can see it makes a real nice daily driver with a bit of fun and enjoyed it overall.

She said, "I don't care what I drive, you sort it out"...
There are a few stipulations... she likes a strong / bold colour.. and that's about it. We would still have the previous fiesta ST had I not felt the need to sell it when we moved house a few years ago.
