I don't know, they didn't hit anything ... you do wonder why they couldn't rejoin the other side of the junction, but maybe not a symmetric junction.
Remember the other drivers have a responsibility to avoid collisions, drive so as to be able to stop, or substantially avoid obstacles, within the distance they can see. If you want to put people in jail for calling other drivers to account on their responsibilities, then jail every one that drives at much higher speed than surrounding traffic, every one that drives through fog like it's not there, every one that drives fast enough to aquaplane through standing water in the rain, etc. These driver choices all have entirely predictable outcomes (you will eventually rely on somebody else to avoid you and you run the risk of killing those that don't).
Personally I would let them off with a warning - jail is overkill and counterproductive. There are plenty of people who have committed worse crimes (any crime that has a deliberate, targeted, victim is worse than any crime that was just poor decision making) who will not have received any meaningful jail sentence. Just sayin'
