My Emira has landed :-)

Post by ryallm » Fri Feb 03, 2023 11:14 am

After a very long time out, with a dalliance with a Caterham along the way, as of this week I am a Lotus owner again, a big early retirement present to myself. Happy boy :D

Seems to have been rather quiet on SE recently. It would be nice to see a bit of a revival with new Scottish Emira owners. Perhaps an Emira specific sub forum might be a good idea?

Well the car is booked in for PPF at the start of March and I am away for much of this month so it is a bit of a garage queen at the moment. It looks gobsmackingly gorgeous of course, the pictures really don't do it justice. I am sure the average Jo could easily think it was a £150k supercar. Interior is a big step up in quality over the Evora, although I could do without the leccy seat adjustment which no doubt adds a chunk of weight. I love the colour - it is very similar to Daytona Blue which has always been one of my favourites, but with a subtle metallic fleck. I've gone for the firmer Sport suspension, with Goodyears rather than Cup2s which are overkill for mostly road use. Planning a big running in trip up all the way up west coast to Durness in Spring. I'll post some driving impressions after that.

Hi Mark

Good to see those pics. I'm trying to decide if I'm more envious about the car or your retirement. Either would be nice...

Let me know if you find you're not enjoying the Emira - I'd consider a swap for my old 111S :-)

Bloody hell Mark that’s gorgeous. Full respect.

What’s your running in route and where will you stay?!

An SEm (Scottish Emiras!) sub forum is no prob. But are there enough of them yet

I believe mine is only the 4th in Scotland but Lotus have a fat order book so I expect that number to ramp up quite quickly.

Not entirely sure of the route yet, but I'll definitely be taking in Skye, Torridon, Lochinver and all the way up to Durness. May camp depending on the weather. Can't wait :)

Brilliant.

Torridon single track will be pretty torn up after winter although they had relaid some of it in the autumn IIRC.

Avoid Bealach na Ba. Wrecked. Wheel damage very likely and the coast road from Applecross to Shieldaig is little better.

Achnasheen to Gairloch sublime and made for Emira.

Ullapool to Lochinver also getting a little broken up but again, some poorer sections relaid last summer.

Laxford Bridge to Lairg and Bonar Bridge to Alness for way home would be nice

As for camping. I have a hunch you are well versed in all that. But. Sands Camping at Gairloch still excellent and have pods too. Staffin camp site was clean & friendly last summer. Clachtoll also a long standing SE favourite.

Keep us posted!!

Lol

Do my best. Getting rusty. But got each of the kids up that way last year and was good to be back on the old trails
