190 upgrade
190 upgrade
After a couple of trackdays my observations on the standard spec engine are as follows:-
Engine lumpy until 3000rpm and then pulls cleanly but slowly to 7000rpm
(It has only done 5000miles)
In an effort to release more ooomph, I have looked at the following:-
Removing existing two air filters and resonator valve to improve flow into the airbox.
The major improvement from the 190 upgrade kit appears to be the ECU
Can I simply plug in an 190 ecu to guage any improvement or should I just get the existing one remapped on the rolling road at Falkland?

The 190 upgrade includes a different inlet cam pulley (not adjustable) to change the timing on the inlet cam.
In my opinion, its really not worth the hassle and the cam timing is still miles out. The mapping is not much better on the 190 ECU either.
The only way to really improve the VHPD is to put on a pair of Piper vernier pulleys and an Emerald ECU with an appropriate map.
This will totally transform the driveability and output of the engine and would cost about £1000 fitted, including VAT.
