B service time

Off for a B service tomorrow am at Phoenix Motorsport, any thoughts on anything I should get done as well? £150 all in and "the van" for the morning seems pretty damn good! What does MMC charge out of interest?

I have done the coolant (Via the floor) and the brake fluid last week. Was going to get the filter cleaned (Huzza) anything else I have missed? Oli who owns the place has a v.good rep. Timing still needs doing accurately (Not that there was anything wrong with a piece of balsa, a brass tube, vernier calipers and a brass rod!) but it's not actually broken yet... :lol:

Why aren't you doing it yourself? Not much more than an A but with plugs and filters.
Whilst I am not saying that I will never take mine into a garage again, I have decided that paying hundreds of pounds a year to keep the service book up to date will never be fully recouped in higher re-sale.
Obvioulsy a good garage will hopefully pick up on a load of other issues that the untrained novice could miss that could potentially have huge ramifications if not caught in time.

Back to your original question, sorry not sure :oops:

Think they were £330 last time, have heard figures of up to £380! :shock: :)

Stewart,

I would but:
a) I want my work up to this point checking out by someone who knows what he's doing and
b) I need a current service for my AA parts and labour waranty

It was reassuring to see that he had 6 Elises outside, 3 inside and 4 in a unit nearby! One was their race car in the LOT series with a Honda. It's the same guy, Oli, who did Tut's honda conversion! Seemed very friendly and I got the worlds crappyest diesel van to get me home, 350k miles on the clock and no turbo... :lol:

He also had a selection of K series lying about for spares, as my alternator may be on its way out, making some very odd noises... :roll:

Ah well I'll pick it up at 5 and see what he finds

4.5k miles and not missed a beat so far (Touches wood!) Not even used any oil. Bit of a pig to start when hot sometimes, but that's normal is it not?

Problem now is what to do next...

Next, obviously, is shoehorning one of those superchargers you keep finding on fleabay, as torque is obviously your holy grail :thumbsup

Hmmm... Yes but they are all too small. I need something bigger!

Last thinking was (Bear with me)

Either:

1) Turbo K from one of the Rover 75 turbos, bin the turbo and fit a supercharger, mini one would be cheapest probably but not really big enough

2) Standard K with Landrover MLS headsaver type head gasket without the 20 thou skim to drop the CR a bit, then a mini Eaton or bigger.

Both would need charge cooling IMHO as there isn't really room for an intercooler...

Problem you run up against every time (Apart from the practicalities of fitting!) is the bottom end/pistons/rods are reputedly not up to it. Saying that I could always find out how far you can push them... :twisted:

The only other options are a VVC bottom end which is reputedly stronger or spending a whole load of cash, which clearly isn't my style...! :lol:

Off to check e-bay again...

Strike that one - the turbo would sit in the middle of the fuel tank...

More possible - bear in mind that Turbo Technics seemed to get away with a air-air cooler beside the RH engine air inlet. Bottom end would definately need work though - VVC is only graded standard items, not forged.

/waits with baited breath for next hare-brained scheme :lol:

Theres lots of plans for electric superchargers, I wonder... They promise 40000rpm and a huge flow rate! Wow, that will give 150 more bhp and a shed load of torque!.... :lol:

I might even fit a power resistor, only £30 :D

Not quite correct Rich, BLiNK did my conversion.

However I have spoken to both Oli and Tony Stanfield, who owns Phoenix, at length on the phone.

It was Brian Laing who had his black S2 converted there.

the 1.8 t has been fitted into an elise
I thourght of fitting one and moving the turbo by the gearbox like the renault 5 however i believe it can fit with a suitable manifold
and komotec were selling a turbo conversion with a plate to lower the comp there is a photo on their site
200 bhp is poss with the 1.8t

Is that the Rover 1.8t install though (with the light pressure turbo) Or is it a custom turbo install? (which has been done several times)
