My new car *pic*

Post by jj » Thu Apr 21, 2005 6:01 pm

Picked up the car today, and am happy to say the least.

Needs a good run as the guy I bought it off hadnt used it in 2months, so it feels a bit stiff.

I know everyone has seen a silver S1 elise before, but I will stick up a pic anyway. Compared to some cars I looked at, this one is so tight and in great nick. (Especially one currently for sale which kept cutting out on the test drive!)

have a look anyway......
Oh, and the nasty chrome number plate surround will be going as soon as I get the V5 back and put my plate on it (on a small plate)!

cheers,

I had`nt been desperate for a hardtop, but I like the look of it more than the canvas, only problem is the obvious - out somewhere and cant take it off.

Plus, I saw it as a way of getting 600quid-ish off the car if I decide to sell the top seperately. Think I`ll keep it just now though.

Accelerator pedal is creaky, any tips? Other than that its spot on - more comfortable than I thought it would be and I cant believe the attention it gets!

JJ

Edited to add: Kenny, it is Woodside Crescent, well done!

Pedal creak is probably the linkage bush - couple of remedies, one is a £12 bit of brass and a bolt  from Morgan Sandercock on the BBS (http://www.british-cars.co.uk) and I think Lotus could sell you a new bush (steady) but that's probably as pricey and will still wear out.

Biodad - the HT's leak as bad as the softtops, it's usually a window alignment thing. Make sure that you give the softtop a good clean and then waterproof it with Fabsil (from camping shops) then make sure the windows are aligned properly. If you take the door card off, there's an adustment on an eccentric cam thingy on the mechnism.

JJ - do you work in Woodlands? I park there every day! Not the Liz, but me old shed (a phukt Rover 214). If you see a numptie in a Rover waving at you - it'll be me :-)

Oh and congrats, she's a tidy one, even if a bit 'stiff' ;)

Yup, I work on Woodside Crescent. Car is double parked as I type!

I`m at Uni at the moment, but work for my folks P/T, and dont go to Uni as much as I should .....

I gave the bush a wee spray with grease, and its a bit quieter.

If you fance fixing the window on your lunchbreak, you know where I am...!

Looks lovely mate

I think all Elise variants look good with the HT, but they are a bit Image and as you say, cant take it off and throw it in the boot very easily.

Oh dear, you don't know me at all

Nearly brought the car up today, after the day we had yesterday. It's just a bit of a fecker with this new 'no idling' rule in the city - I have to let mine run for 5 mins to warm up properly, so I avoid bringing it in for commuting. That and the fact that I don't want to waste valuable engine hours in traffic... (mine is tuned, in case you were unaware)

Oh, and I don't get a lunchbreak!!! What time are you usually in in the mornings? I don't technically start till 10, but usually get in well in advance.

Still, it's not really a five minute job, but I could have a squiz to see if it's well outa line...

Cheers

Just for us manky weegies....

In Glasgow they've just introduced fines for "unnecessary" sitting with the engine running. Sure a we expanation would be fine if a parking tw*t did poke a nose in - I think it's more for delivery drivers with the engine running all day...
