Damaged Elise

Post by pete » Wed Feb 28, 2007 10:14 pm

Well kind of. He claims to have spent 8K turning his Elise into an Exige but has missed a few bits. I don't quite understand what he has spent 8K on, and is it just me or does the angle of attack of that big wing seem a bit extreme?

The front looks as if it sits a bit high? Front wheels look a bit lost in the wheel arches IMHO. Rear spoiler is all wrong, IMHO. Would look so much better with a 111s or 160 sport spoiler. More scary is the wider rear track? For the money spent, could he have done a Honda conversion?

Why spend £9000 on a big wing and an Exige body when you could part ex for an Exige in the first place... and it comes with a big wing as standard!

Try both clams! Easily £8k for them from Lotus.
The rear wing is too much but I can't see what's wrong with the rest of it, looks way better than that wide arch S2 Exige that was posted up last year.

But only the front clam is changed? And at 11k I dont think he`ll be selling it any time soon.

:withstupid

Made a mess of it with the wing I think. All the bits but not "sorted" by the look of it....
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

But that isn't an Exige rear clam is it?
It's an Elise rear clam to which he had bolted a wing :D

I think there was a different "motorsport" rear clam for the Elise, look at the arches, I think they are wider.

It can look good if done properly:

Image

I toyed with the idea of doing this to my 111s after I bought it back from the insurance company and then sticking a Honda in it. In the end, I was put off by investing about 20k in total into a Cat D 7yr old car. Ok if keeping it but I needed to have a car that could be sold relatively quickly if need be, due to the unstable industry I work in. So I stupidly bought an Exige in a love or hate colour instead

Maddog quotes about 2.7k for the front and rear clams and another 1k for paint. These are from custom moulds though, not official Lotus. A 2nd hand set of Exige wheels takes it up to about 4.5k, way short of the 8k quoted for the abortion above.

No mention of any engine mods or suspension fixes either.

It's on Ebay now

Check out the second question...

"How much to put it back to original condition"

It's a shopping trolley.

With a number plate like that, what do you expect.

Seller is from Essex.

Wonder if it has neons too.

<sigh>
