Anyone use Pagids on their car and use it everyday?

I've had Mintex 1144s on the car for a year and a bit now and i rate them - as you knwo i drive like a bit of a girl and i'm not going to track the day every other week - just now and again.

Mintex are £120 and Pagids are an extra £100.

Now i know they are meant to be night and day on the track but does anyone use them everyday and how are they from cold ? If they are genuinely the dogs baws then I'll pay the money but right now i'm thinkign they might be overkill.

I dont commute but mine is my only car and i cant rate them highly enough. Fine for pootling around town, fast road and track. Well worth the money id say! :D

I dont have a problem with the greenstuffs for road / a few trackdays TBH but will be putting on Pagids next time as an upgrade path.

had the greenstuff overheat and fade on me on the borders run... not mental pace either

Personally don't see the point in spending an extra £100 just on brake pads unless you are doing a good few trackdays...

Never had any probs with the Mintex on road runs, don't think the Pagids are essential for them tbh.... and the Mintex ain't that bad on track either.

Then again, with your new job... you'll be loaded so go for it.. get the Pagids!!

Yes but along with the new job come a new flat .....oh and i am still on sh*t SP wages at the moment :(

....still undecided to be honest - not sure i'd get the most out of them :shock:

Brakes slow you down... you wanna go faster :twisted: :roll: :lol:

Poor brakes means you to push your cornering speeds, unwilling, but you will discover new levels of cornering speeds & adrenaline :twisted: :shock: :lol:

On a serious note, one of mates built a rally car a few years ago, and seriously over specced the brakes; he either had locked up wheels, or nothing :shock: Several trees and ditches later, he revised the spec of the brakes :lol:

For not too hard road use, IMHO you would be best not over doing it. Especially if the brakes need heat in them to properly work. Don't know what pagids are like.

I had Pagid RS42s and after a couple of dabs to warm them up they were great on the road. I've reverted to relative pikeyness now and have 1144s on, can't tell much difference on the road but not tracked them yet.

as dominic says, you need to match your brakes to your car/driver.

example: pagids 14's have good bite, which is great on sticky tyres on track, when warm, but not so good with road tyres, when reacting to an emergency on the road, when you can lock up easily.

i would run pagid 42's on the road, and pagid 14's on track, and vary my tyres to suit.

Of course i dont do that, i make a choice and live with the disadvantages. but theres no point speccing great track brakes, if you only do 1 or 2 trackdays a year, and run road tyres most of the time.

General consensus has been that Pagid RS42's are the best choice if you're doing road and track and can afford them.

I've had them on both my Lotus and they are also the longest lasting.

I got an advisory on them on my MOT last year :oops:

.....and you could abseil off the lip on my discs :oops:

THanks for the feedback - i think i'm gonna be tight and stick to 1144s - i'm not that heavy on the brakes anyway :?
