Surely to avoid confusion it's inline vs bent, as in V or W.

:D
OK it's a bent 6...just bent 180 deg.

Scoobyphiles would go ape if you say they have an inline 4...

I had a hired FIAT chinqweeecento once from Edinburgh airport to Dundee. I got a confused look from the rental bloke when he realised I'd only picked it up 45 mins before.... :D

Not being a Porscheophial I didn't realise it had a 'boxer' engine, I had always presumed it was a straight 6 lying flat/on its side  That was my understanding of the reason for it hanging out of the back of the car

Another day, another thing learnt on SE

We, being of a more sensible age, decided to hire the cheapest car we could, also from Avis. Total cost - 50 euros for two days, plus 20 more to add a second driver. We scored a Hyundai Atos, 1.1 no less.

BTW, in Germany if travelling at greater than 130kph if you have an accident you are automatically at fault I believe. Also your insurance derates above 130, so at 280kph you probably have reached the 0% point - smash it then, and you are buying someone a new Porsche ... not sure how the rental companies cover this aspect - I guess they either pass the same condition on to you, or charge a premium to cover the extra risk ... might be worth checking next time you hire the millenium falcon :-)

eeek - They told me i was liable for the first 1k Euros, nothing other than that.

Out there looking for new products, Sat was good, Sunday dire. Never seen so many digital photoframes in my life!

Happy to have left Hannover for another 12 months, although I was tempted to bring the 911 home and head for the ferry

LOL - I know - some of those in the Chinese enclave in particular were stunning quality, and the colours gave you cancer just looking at them!

My personal favourites were the leather covered USB hard disk enclosures "feel the cut, feel the quality - handmade in Moroccan leather" :-)

Best bet. I had never been before and don't think I'll bother going to the show again - too much tat and too many spotty children playing computer games.

We stayed in Bielefeld which was nice enough. Took the mega efficient German train to Hannover, but was amazed to discover that their timetables aren't sorted by destination!?! WTF! So rather than search the entire list for the next train back to Bielefeld, I thought I would ask the handy station master bloke thinking he would just say "Platform 11, the 17:21" - but no, he gets the bloody same thing out of his pocket and starts scanning for the next train that apparently stops at Bielefeld. Makes you wonder ...

Cheers,
Robin

The people that go to that show that aren't there on business scare me - I cannot think of a worse place to spend time, although Bagdad might be close.

Having said that found a few good products (in amongst the nonsense) and the 911 made the trip entertaining. although knowing it was in the car park waiting to be thrashed wasn't helping my concentration at times
