Windscreen -Shock!

Post by sico24 » Tue Apr 03, 2007 2:53 pm

Hi

My windscreen has always had a chip and small (1cm) crack since I bought car 2 years ago - thought I'd better do something about before it got worse. So went to Autoglass who said it was not repairable so would have to be a replacement. And can only be done at MMC as front clam has to come off. Total price would be.....£1049.15!!!!

Good job I have max £50 excess on windscreen insurance (unlimited amount) with First Alternative. Have checked with them and definitely won't have to pay or lose NCB.

Something to think about if you've got a chip, buying a car with cracked screen or are renewing your insurance company?

Picked up, slight chip right at the front edge but hidden by wiper. Got a 3 year warranty against cracking so happy with that. CBA to argue TBH.

£50 for a new windscreen = happy bunny! I can see!

Blinking heck. I thought £800.00 for my Marcos windscreen, a few years ago was expensive. I think thats a bit rich at that. However if the insurance is paying it thats cool. MMM maybe thats thats also a factor in insuring a Elise. :(
