Got offered one recently, but it was tatty way beyond my expertise. Always thought they looked great though. Build quality and performance not so hot I believe....

Loving the shagadelic 3up seats!

Anyone ever drive one?

No but always wanted one when I was young & had no sense - had forgotten they even existed until I saw one on e-bay a couple of months ago - looked in great shape & was tempted but went for over 3 grand. Think they have Chrysler Alpine engine & running gear !! Guess not easy to get parts cos you never see any Alpines about now - all rusted to death years ago. Keith

I owned a Talbot Matra Murena 1.6 for 9 years, the successor to the Bagheera. Great car but I drove it into the ground.

When I sold it in 2001 it had about 120,000 miles on the clock and the engine had by then had a minor rebuild as it was drinking as much oil as petrol.

A lot of fun and a lot less rusty than the old Baggy - chassis was hot dip galvanised (a world first at the time I believe) and plastic body so almost as rot resistant as an Elise. Mind you, the rear trailing arms go, they did on mine.

The guy that bought my car lived in Glasgow and was a complete Matra nutcase. Him and his girlfriend turned up at my house to see the car in matching Matrasport jackets which they had bought at the factory museum in Romarantin in France and his Glasgow flat was floor to ceiling in Matra models!

Pity Renault closed the Matra car plant when the Avantime bombed. Would have been nice if they had had the chance to make another sportscar.
