it doesnt weigh much, and it cuts down on drag i think. certainly my top speed is more with the roof on. Definately worth it for snett, as top speed is 140mph. other circuits might be better with roof off

Well done Neil, that's a pretty good result for a first time on the circuit!

We need to sort out some support for you at Oulton Park, (and AndyG if he makes it)

Do you need assistance in the pits etc or do Sinclairs do it all for you?

:thumbsup

Sincs are kinda supporting me, but if people want to travel down and cheer me on then its much appreciated.

I need to shed 100kg from my car to put me on terms with the other people in class B. If anybody has idea's that are within the regs then please PM me

I realise this is an open forum and that you might not want to share your weight-loss secrets but it would be useful to know where you are starting from in trying to lose 100kg.

I would have thought that the battery could save you getting on for 10kg.

I’d probably look at getting a cheep rear clam and getting in among that with a saw. Boot out etc. You might also be able to sand down the inside to take weight out of it although for the amount of weight you would actually save it might not be worth it.

Having the boot cut would be a pain for everyday use but you can always swap them back over at the end of the season and an extra clam might be useful if bad stuff happens.

There is mention of using a polycarbonate rear screen in the rules but why not just run with no rear screen? I can’t see any rule which prohibits that and I don’t think you would need the glass in to pass an MOT

Running with enough (but not too much) fuel will help too. If you are running with 30L and only need 10L then you are carrying an extra 20kg

Never met you Neil, but am mightily impressed by what you 1) Are doing and 2) How well you did first time out and 3) at a track you previously didnt know.

You must be looking forward to doing a track you already know.

Rules say Steel or Iron only for discs.

Chopping out the boot seems to be allowed though.

What about replacing the fuel tank with a bag, would that save much weight?

What about doing some aero work Neil, would it be worth it? Front splitter etc.

It's a shame they aren't coming up to Knockhill.

i have thought about all these things guys, its just a case of how much money its going to cost. I didnt really want to get into cheque book racing as i will probably lose, so whatever i can do on a budget i will do.

Keep shouting out idea's though please.

Handling wise, i have a very oversteery car, so a rear wing might be heading my way.
