made it home - another adventure!

Today at Emerald was good despite gear oil being spat out (must have over filled it) and the resulting clouds of smoke as Dave gave the RLC some of the rough stuff on the rolling road. Very friendly bunch at Emerald and the RLC is going well. Smoother, just, but spins much more smoothly through the range, and puts out peak poke at about 6.5k.

Just back from JPS, where we had to change a wheel bearing (thanks Robin!), finish fitting the A-frame, checked the geo at the rear of the car, and w wholoe\ host of other things.

A big thanks to Dan and Luke and sorry to keep you boys back so late! Massively appreciated, and the car simply flew up the A68.

sh*t loads to do before heading south tomorrow, but if i can get the wheels and tyres sorted, and a few other things then, its green light for testing friday!

Now off to do some work and catch up :)

Did you make what you hoped for in the hp side of things?

One should perhaps assume that such info is classified on a need to know basis for the time being ;)

We didn't make as much as I might have hoped for - Dave Walker is convinced the exhaust manifold is too restrictive (hardly surprising, considering it was designed to fit in a small space and work with a 100BHP engine).

Torque falls off quite sharply above 6,600, so no point having a rev limiter set to anything other than stock, which at least means I have fewer nightmares about the engine going bang on the end of the straight at Spa ;-).

When we have a bit more breathing space I might try and source a 160-type manifold (which we are allowed, provided it really is the 160 type), which should allow torque to hold up for another 500 RPM or so.

However, it's not slow (flash backs of death-defying 17-car overtake approaching the rev limiter in 4th yesterday), so I think our efforts will now be better spent on getting the handling tuned (an extra 5-10BHP makes little or no difference if you give up 10 mph in the corners).

Cheers,
Robin

Good luck to you both, pretty confident that you will do well if the cars hold together.

Unfortunately its a bloody big IF in my experience. Would love to be on the grid with you, one in each Class, I even know Oulton reasonably well.
