Nice to see everyone today. Had lots of fun. Weather was alright and drivers seem to be all behaving themeslves except for the black skyline which spent the whole time putting gravel and mud on the track

Will edit footage from to day and post a link :)

Oh and by the way the Ohlins rule

Thoroughly enjoyed my first trackday in the Lotus, not very quick yet, still taking corners at CTR speed but I was picking up near the end.

Had the track to myself most of the time, was very quiet. Knockhill was bloody freezing as usual.

I was out in a couple of cars today. Simon Ironsides silver S1 (nee naw) and *****(forget his name-DOH) in the lave orange S2.

Was really good fun, especially in simons car as its most like my own. The new duffus is a good improvement if you ask me. Allows the entry speed to climb and turns what was a bit of a stop start corner, into a flowing corner that needs real balls to go fast.

Obviously my excuse for not going fast was i was in other peoples pride and joy's so was being a bit mechanically sympathetic. Still managed to scare simon silly with the speed through duffus.

Went out in the lava S2 with *****(still terrible with names) and was able to give him a few tips to speed up his lap times. I was very grateful when he rewarded me with 10 laps in his car. Was good fun just to be back out on circuit in an elise again. Looking forward to getting mine back even more now.

This is the only person i know that can get on a trackday he's not acually booked on.

At this rate you could keep going without the car and STILL get more track time than most folk.

Back to the thread, was up for a quick squint today. Duffus looks quick from the sidelines. There was a white EVO and a westie having some good close laps, both looked really quick. Looking forward to getting a few HM's in before the summer. Roll on East fortune. :D

I read it straight out of "failed racing driver" book

I did see a few folk with cars in the paddock for the same amount of time as me. :D only problems is, i owe lots of people a shot in mine when i get it back. Need to book on a trackday, but not actually drive myself. YEAH RIGHT.

Take what big "guiez a shot" says with a pinch of salt though. :P IIRC SE's resident blagger hasn't driven the new Knockhill layout. Chancer, impressive blagging 8).

Didn't get to look round the back of the track as the rally school was on. has Clarks and the chicaine been widened too??

P.s. I take it that was Mr Mckean trail braking and sliding Si's car at the hairpin. Plenty of tail out action.

AHEM, firstly, drove the new layout yesterday, improved simons line through duffus and mcintyres greatly. Improved the other guys line through duffus, and the dip before the chicane. so nana nana

The rest of the track is as was, BUT, all the kerbs, and more specifically the bumps, have been flattened, allowing you to carry a bit more speed through the corners, and use the kerbs as an extension of the track. They've still to be painted, but hopefully much wont change.

As for trail breaking and arse out action. Well, maybe just a little, be rude not to eh??

And as for my credentials, i successfully ripped apart your heel and toe technique didnt i??

I'm sure thats what allowed me the hang onto Ali at Cadwell. Banzai braking. Rippped apart. Thats a bit brutal :( . I'd say advised me to try and maintain constant firm pressure throught out the blips.

Was a pleasure to have you drive the car Neil.
Good to see the different lines and speeds the car can do when someone actually knows what they are doing.
Proved to me that I should probably invest money in training rather than on the car!

Think I finally got the right before the chicane nailed, was taking it almost flat out by the end of the day

Thanks again for the tips!

JOE. thats your bloody name. Why the hell am i soooo bad at remembering names. must be age, i'm 25 this june.

You said to me, dont criticise, before i jumped in the car and i hope i didnt. Its just if no one has showed you the right lines, you'll never keep the car settled enough to get real speed out of it.

You managed to scare the life out of me every lap at mcintyres, as turning in like you were doing (sharp lift of throttle, turning in early etc) would have spun you off if it were an S1. Thats why i covered my eyes. S2 are obviously more stable. Like i said,i wasnt pushing it, as every elise is different, and i try to be respectful of other peoples toys, so was braking early and generally not sliding the rear. But was still good fun. thanks again for the shot

was only joking matey. You know your good, and i didnt rip it apart. In fact, it was the only thing you did wrong in about 15 laps. And you listened to me and fixed it.

Folk at my work ask me for tips, i tell them, and then they ignore what i tell them. That just pisses me off. I'd love to take there cars out and show them how to do it properly.
