Woah, Lewis.

There is no dig in my post. If you perceive one, that's unfortunate.

I was sharing my own experience, that's all. I am more than happy for anyone brave enough to run their Elise or Exige over Edinburgh's disastrous "tarmac", but all I'm saying is, I won't be.

You might not have discerned, but I am hardly running a stripped out hard core track car. My S1 on S2 bilsteins still crashes its way over the excuses for roads in Edinburgh city centre. That's all.

Chill, enjoy your research, and I hope to hear your successful conclusion. Seriously.

I run NTRs and my car spends most of it's life running about in Edinburgh. Sure you have to keep an eye out for pot holes but generally I find the NTRs very pliable. Sure the ride is a bit hard, and cobbles are not nice, but hey it's not a Jaaaag. Works for me anyway, but I did start out with droop issues (ahem) and ended up lowering the car more to compensate which made a mahoosive difference but the problem is still there a little. I still make it over those horrible road bumps, but only just. Next time I rebuild the rears it will be droop increasing longer shafts for me.

BTW Lewis, I live about 2 mins from you if you want to see what the NTRs are like. Once I can get the car out the drive of course.

Thanks Campbell/Ferg :thumbsup

Robin: That's helpful, thanks. I think I have a found a solution with 111R shocks and upgraded springs. Waiting to order and Craig (MMC) is going to sort for me! Hopefully this won't effect the set up too much and stayed away from the NSS after having a chat with Nitron themselves. Very helpful and honest so I would recommend them for that alone!

Will keep the thread updated for info in-case anyone else not brave enough to say is interested :blackeye

Lewis, glad you got it sorted to your satisfaction - what is the spec/ make or your new set up?

Thanks mate :thumbsup

It's running the standard 111r dampers with new springs (not sure of rating). Lost all of the harshness that the Exige shocks gave you on the road which is exactly what I was after. Took it for a spirited drive last night and on corners etc I can't feel any difference at all in terms of handling. If anything it felt even more stable which I believe has to do with the geo; as it's been set up properly for the dampers, wide wheel arches and road driving.

I know people will think what I have done is crazy but I bet any Exige owner who does nothing but road miles would be amazed with the difference! And until you drive the two set ups you realise that on a road there is really no difference at all... I'm sure track is a different kettle of fish, but that doesn't bother me.

It's almost as comfy as a Europa now

:thumbsup

An Exige that isn't going to be tracked is probably all the better for the upgrade ( or is it downgrade :? ) that you have now.
I suspect there might be people out there who would prefer a softer set up for their Exiges but haven't had the bottle to stand up and say so ( Emporers new clothes syndrome).

Are you still running 48's/888's Lewis? If so you would be better going to a road tyre, softer side walls :thumbsup

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).

Don't worry. anybody with that attitude and we will soon knock it out of them.

Tis your car, you set it up as you wish. Whichever way that is, you will always get suitable advice on here, remember we have cars going from 118hp to over 300, some road only, many road and track, some racers only, but they all need different set ups for the way that they are used.
