Crash structure is not repairable, budget that in.
It looks like you will need to go the insurance route, otherwise, why have it in the first place?

That or you want to DIY,.
You must be pretty handy though to bond the new crash structure in place.

Bugger it, the stress of how long it was going to take/cost was pissing me off so I've just called the insurance co and declared it. They can deal with it, and I'll just have to see what my renewal is next year.

My recent repairs were £5k worth, I reckon yours will be cheaper but still an insurance job, do you have PNCB?

Thankfully, apart from how bloody long they took, my claim was fairly painless and wont affect my renewal.

Bad luck :(
As for next year's renewal, keep the £1k for that!

Need a new front clam and a friendly person who can be recommended to spray it for me. How much do you think to respray? I have about 1k in the bank that I'd prefer to use instead of going through the insurance.

Oh, and

Looks like a new clam and crash structure.

Gaz,
Did Si beat me to reccomending David?
I have used him for a long time and found him good. Tell him you want a good job rather than chucking paint at it. He does do a relly good job if you ask but he has a lot of dealers who just want a quick coat of paint.
Take all the bits coz he should be able to fix it up.

I'll have to phone David in the morning to cancel as I just put it through the insurance. I was really worried because I've accumulated another 3 points since beginning the policy and thought they might declare my insurance void, but I checked the policy wording and they do not want to know about points you've accumulated until renewal time.

How long do you suppose I'll be without a car once it's in to get sorted?

I really must remember to work my brakes when really going for it because they just did not bite. Fair enough I was asking a bit much for them to get me to stop in 12ft on a steep hill, but they would have been much better if up to temp.

Such a silly off, my first proper one in 10 years of driving - and I consider myself to be driving at my best!

Should be up to 3 weeks max... once they've got in all the parts from Lotus, that'll take about a week probably.
Remember to get a geo done too ;) I stuck a print out of the geo settings I wanted on my dash when my car was in for a new clam recently :)

Sorry to hear about ur accident tho, those pics are painful! But at least you'll get it done properly thro the insurance. You might not even use all your 1k on the excess + increased renewal next year.
My renewal wuld of gone up from 400 to 700 if I'd lost my no claims this year. I decided to pay the extra £40 to protect my no claims this time.
