Anybody recommend who supplies the best piston, liners and bearings.

Aye, aye. :D

Only have hacksaws and files. Takes longer but satisfying and safe.

Alan
it only takes 2 minutes with a hacksaw, but 20 minutes to measure and get up the courage

True

and the Elise was designed around K too

Tony Schute recently said his biggest regret is no longer having the "lightweight K series still in the car"

Simon, can you remember what other engines they tried to evaluate / contract with for the original S1? Or was it always going to be Rover? Might have been something in the Making of the Elise video but can't recall.

Out of consultancy work for GM Vauxhall 1.6L 1.8 and 2L ecotec engines plus Ford Zetec 1.6 and 1.8L were all in the running - some of these engines offered more power/torque

K series won the trial because of it's weight advantage....................

" we have not picked the engine yet but there are some obvious considerations. The K series is around 100kg fully equipped [incl oil, coolant, alternator, exhaust manifold - given as fully dressed wt] whereas the GM and Ford engines are all at least 30kg heavier than the Rover K. " Tony Schute 1994

"I am pleased with the Rover K series choice, it remains the lightest in it's class by some margin........." Tony Schute 2002

Good news from Craig. He took the body off, oil splattered around but looks like the usual gearbox seal, battery is knackered, filled it up with oil and it seems to be running fine.

However he is disappointed that he will now be foregoing the 260hp 2 litre that he had commissioned and was about to make a deposit on.

His 340R.

Looked as if the engine had seized a few months ago the day before he was selling it, so has been garaged since. He was sending his VHPD block off to VGK Racing in Spain, and they were building a new engine around it.

Ah, thought you meant Craig at Murrays.

That's good news. The engine sounds interesting .... and expensive.
