Bit of an update, been messing around with my pi this week, as well as get my FTP server up and running. While I was at it I upgraded my switch.

Anyway The raspberry pi isn't to keen on running anything via it's USB ports so I am using a seperate powered USB hub , Why is it you realise this only a few weeks afetr you throw out all your STD USB cables ? anyway. I got raspbmc installed all nice and easy and decided while I was at it to open a shared media library on the server (old pc) so installed mysql and got it up and running on 2 pc's.
It's still not working on the raspberry pi but I am still working on it

I have started messing about with SSH and I can talk to it and get it to do "stuff" but I starting to get the hang of it.

If you have to ask, you don't need one. :)

It's a small, credit card sized PC which can be programmed to do just about anything, only it doesn't have enough grunt to be useful for much. It can run a cut-down flavour of linux and is suitable for general programming tasks, and has a few general purpose input-output pins which you can connect to electronics.

If you're already a linux geek or an electronics tinkerer then it's a cool toy. Otherwise, forget it.
