I haven't managed many miles in the 250 - and I came from my V6 Exige via a Komotec 430 Evora.... but initial thoughts are one of lightness and deft of touch. It feels alive and more direct than the V6 did. Its difficult to gauge out-and-out speed/ pace at the moment because I'm restricted to 3.5k revs and the engine is super tight. But it turns well and it stops ok........ but it doesn't sound as nice as my old V6ryallm wrote:I have had both Armourfend and Defendall on previous cars. Both did the job very well. I think the Defendall is a bit thinner. From what I have read Xpel is the one to have now but it is expensive.
The car looks fantastic. Am I right in thinking there are a couple of SEers now who have gone from a V6 Exige to Cup 250? Curious to know how the driving experience compares.

Once you see the number of swirl marks on a brand new piece of polished carbon you might change your mind!van cleef wrote:anthonyyule wrote:The XPEL film provides amazing stone chip protection and general scratch resistance (the videos online of guys rubbing their paintwork with pan scourers and then "washing" away the scratches with warm water is amazing).... and the quartz coating lasts for up to 5 years and is very effective at preventing bird poo/ tar build up/ general marking of the paint.van cleef wrote:Car looks great.... wouldn't mind one myself.![]()
Never really understood what people pay a fortune to get their cars detailed though....to the point when you drive it home and your visually back to square one.
But each to their own.
In actual fact because Ive had this work done Ill probably use the car more often in more inclement weather knowing that I've done all I can to protect the paint whilst also making the inevitable clean up operation about 1/4 the time it would normally be (quick hose down with snow foam and a rinse and the car "dries" itself).
When I collected it on Sunday I went for a 60-70 mile drive up to Huntly and back over to Aboyne. The snow had just gone and the roads were filthy.... 5 mins with a hose back at the house and the car looked just as it does in the pics.
My point wasn't about the film which is a good idea on such and expensive car... i personally wouldn't bother with a detail but maybe it's just me as I'm not huge in to cleaning cars. I know a guy who had his car detailed there a few years ago and it was close to 2 grand without the film protection.
Plus a bag of pork scratchings and a pint of milk for the tea.mxvx wrote:
What do you mean? 'A fortune'? Surely people don't pay more than £20, £30 tops?
Its not something which I would do again - as in - Im not going to keep the car precious.... it was bought to be used. However, its only fair to give it the best start in life, and the amount of sanding marks and scratches which were on the car from the factory (and which I believe is par for the course on most cars nowadays) made the job inevitable.
Maybe some folks wont care... but it would have bothered me - and there was little to no point in applying paint protection film on top of the defects.

That's bloody lovely, what a great colour. Although there are some Romanians at my local car wash who also get things very clean.

Wow - thats quite expensive. The polish car wash in Tullos will clean the evora, dry it and put black on the wheels for 8 quid. If they use clean cloths I tip them 2 quid sometimes...

You're being ripped off, the place on Queens drive is only £4.
