i couldnt find the any 100w h7's so is the 80w ones the max i can get?

Dipped beam is H1, main beam is H7.

i got 80w h1 and 80w h7's last night.
had an absolute mare trying to fit them tho.
i'm guessin i'm on the right lines here.
but i need to take the wheelarch liner off, then the 3 nuts off and the headlight cover should just come off. then just replace the bulbs
is that correct?

I don't think you need to remove the wheel arch-liner to get access to the three nuts.

Did you get a manual?

i got the file you sent me, cheers
but i had a look through the owners manual which described how to change them.
definately couldnt see the 3 nuts without moving the liner though.
there was a screw at the top of the arch and 2 plastic screws at the bottom of the arch. the 2 plastic ones came out no bother but the one at the top is solid.
i removed the 2 at the bottom and could move the liner enough to see the 3 bolts but couldnt get in to loosen them.
a good hour and many grazed nuckles later i've still got the old candles.
am i totally looking at the wrong thing here?
its a 55 plate car, have they changed recently or somethin?
cheers for all the help by the way

Maybe they have changed, then my advice is no use

Someone with a 55 plate or newer will hopefully contribute.

Good luck :D

Erm, my old car was a 55 plate exige. First i took the wheel off to make things easier. Then i removed the bottom two plastic cross head screws and the front wheel arch liner slid downwards. Then i used the larger allen key (in tool kit) to remove the three headlight cover retaining bolts. Earlier cars needed a flat head screw driver instead of an allen key. And then the cover slid away from the car to give access.

HTH cheers Ed :)

wonder what i have been trying to take off then?
the 3 bolts i can see arent allen key fitment.... i think.they were just a normal hex bolt.
i got one off but the headlamp cover didnt seem to loosen at all.
wonder if i'm lookin at the wrong thing completely.
gonna have another look tonight when i've got a bit more time
cheers ed

Richi, i think you have been trying to undo the bolts the hold the actual lights rather than the covers! cheers :D

iirc there are 3 hex head bolts that hold the whole internal light assembly in place and one of these also holds the arch-liner in place - don't undoo these. the three ones you need are up there near them, one high, and two lower down. mine (which are early s2 and so are different from yours) are quite big with knurled edges (to be used by hand) and a slot in the top. they come out quite easily.

with the wheel off it should be pretty easy to work it out - hopefully - with a decent light!

A.

well thats them all in.
thanks for all the help guys.
i changed the h1 and h2's and am well happy with the change, even in the early evening i could see a good change. havent been out in proper dark yet but am sure it'll be excellent.

the only problem i have now is i didnt change the sidelight bulbs and they look crap next to the others so i think at the weekend its back into them again to change them over to something that is gonna look a bit whiter
