I'd top up with water and see if it holds the level. You can get the coolant tested for specific gravity to make sure its not too dilute (unlikely unless you are topping up regularly.

right i just went out to check the car at lunch and i had very little coolant in the tank - topped it up with water and the car is fine!!! phewwwww (i had been cr*pping it all morning!) :lol:

Getting some coolant first thing!

By the way i noticed if the coolant is low, the car might not idle properly - not sure if someone else has experienced this?

Coolant level shopuld not affect idle, just temp (Until it siezes that is)

coolant schmoolant. My car's been running on about 3 litres of Knockhill's finest bog water for the past month :lol:

The mixture of coolant and water is not there to promote cooling (indeed it does the opposite) it's there to reduce corrosion and to prevent freezing (not an issue this month anyway). The longer you run it with stream water in it, the more corrosion there will be - it's worth flushing out the swamp weeds and replacing with proper premixed coolant (or buy 5L of neat coolant and dilute to 50/50 with tap water). It's not like it's expensive or anything ...
