Just had a pm from a VX220 owner with an amusing quote.

tut

"Hi Tut,

just thought i'd send a wee pm to say thanks for the pax ride today and to your driving, i genuinely have never been in so much awe of someone elses driving

loved every minute but didn't have too much time to say thanks as there seemed to be an endless queue of people desperate to go out for a couple of laps with you, most amazing quote of the day was from an english girl on the pit wall, 'f**k me, that yellow cars goin by the Subarus as if they're goin backwards and it's an old fella drivin it!!!"

I think it's fair to say he had one of the best days of his life 8)
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

So that is Jimmy McRae. I was talking to Steve Guglielmi when Jimmy was the centre of attention.

Nearly went across to him to say that it was good to see another OAP on the track, but fortunately I didn't as he still has two years to go.

some nice cars out on the SIDC morning...

We were out in the Skyline, just checking it out for TimeAttack...

It was running good in the morning, but all went pearshaped after the TimeAttack warmup session :(

Boost probs (half boost, boosting slowly etc), slipping clutch, drinking oil.... powersteering going too.

Still... Fee didnt finish last and beat a few much higherpowered cars in the final.

Can see on the Speed trap results from Warm up to Practice fee had lost 7mph on the straights :/

Nearly 10 by the qualifying.....

Speed Traps from the Club Final

DCY R32 GTR george passed at 117mph
Shane (other R32 GTR) passed at 102mph
Fee passed at 88mph

Tells a story about the final LOL.

Only one gripe about the SIDC morning. Nearly stuffed it into the back of a red/maroon kitcar. He was passing in the middle of the straight with enough room for me to pass. I made to pass, and was prob in his blind spot when he started coming back over to take the racing line ( well before the pit exit). I thought he'd seen me coming up but maybe not. No harm done anyway :)

Great trackday as usual John, and the only one that I have ever done with a pax for every lap. I took two of the instructors relatives out as well, so brownie points in the bag.

Only one red flag, apart from the oil one, which was a good time to go for fuel.

SIDC rules, along with the odd Tut Towers ones...................

Thanks again to John for organising another great SIDC day. The track seemed a bit busier than usual, but everyone was behaving themeselves so it was never as problem.

Had a great few pax laps with Gareth in the 7 and George in the Atom, both seriously quick cars which felt on another performance plane altogether from my Exige. I'm trying hard not to get drawn into the idea of buying an Atom - the thing just looks fantastic and feels such fun from the passenger seat. I suspect if I drove one that would be it.... on the other hand I was driving home in the Exige in air conditioned comfort with a CD on thinking what a great all round road and track car it is, so I really ought to banish thoughts of another expensive toy.

Anyway, look forward to the next SIDC day :D

Mark

PS 4 skydives from 10000 ft at Strathallan yesterday - top weekend all round :D :D

Glad you enjoyed the Atom. It is a long time since I did any skdiving. Where is Strathallan?

It is near Auchterarder between Perth and Stirling. On my last jump yesterday you could see Arran in one direction, and Ben Nevis, and the Cairngorms to the north, and the Forth bridges to the east - amazing.
