My 2p worth is.. I prefer the look of the s2. But that wasnt always my opinion. When the s2 first came out I thought they seemed a bit more 'girly' than the s1. Either my opinion has changed cause I have gotten more used to the s2 or I am now more in touch with my feminine side :?

S2 cos it looks better, and the 111R cos it has a better engine, and does 150mph.

The 111R won't do 150mph, your speedo may say so but it would be lying. Anyway, who gives a sh*t if it can do 150? A standard Elise (s1/s2) is more than fast enough in a straight line for road driving, anything more than what it can do is probably pretty dangerous in most conditions.

As for styling, I didn't like the S2 when it first came out but it grew on me. I loved the S1 to start with but much prefer the S2 now and that was one of the reasons I bought the S2 (along with the fact I was buying new!). The S160 is by far the best looking S1, particularly in black like Neil and Mags one.

Anyway, this is all bollocks really cos it's personal opinion and nobody is wrong. 'Which is best?' in your opinion is a question only you can answer.

S2 Elise is best for me
although I prefer the S1 Exige :D

for me the S2 is more of a car (maybe thats just macs) but it feels more substantial and feels like it has more grunt about it.

the S1 Exige is by far the best looking exige IMO. The S2 exige just isn't different enough from the Elise to make it an Exige. :)

Voted for the S2...

I didn't like the looks at first, but it's definitely grown on me. The S2 just strikes me as a more modern design now. Love the racecar attitude of the S1 Exige, but can't imagine that I could ever actually own one - the S2 on the other hand is most likely my next car :D

S1 111s in silver....... :D That was lucky....

The rest are just facelifts of the original

If I was buying one today I'd buy a S160 with a CR box just cos the S160 with Janspeed sounds so goddamn good.

Wrong side of bed?

It's obviously just a wee chance to get some discussion and banter going - let's be honest, anytime we meet up for a drink, there's usually someone who brings it up

Obviously the "best" Elise is the one you want to own. That's different for everyone.

For interest - my 'ideal' Elise would be my S1, completely overhauled with motorsport uprights, Pilbeam rose jointed wishbones, Exige (S1) sized mag wheel/tyre combo and bigger front discs/4 pots, with 2 pot rear calipers. Ohlins 2-way adjustables, lightened everything and an RST V8 in the back of it (with paddle shift for the 6sp sequential box). Might even fix the front clam

That would be my ideal, but I daresay would be waaaaaay too extreme for most folks - would be practically undrivable on a bumpy road.

Erm, no. My point is that asking "which is best" is pointless and it's constantly argued on selcoc and there's no answer that anyone else can give you. It's purely personal opinion and nobody is right or wrong so if you want an answer, the only way to get it is tro drive each variation yourself.
