Andy, it must be time to take that shed of a car, put it on a trailer, deposit at Hethel and if nec. torch it. I cannot believe how long it's taken to replace the engine and iron out the resulting gremlins.

Tell me about it. This one you can actually feel though as opposed to Electrics. The movement when the throttle is closed seems to jam requiring a lot of pressure to open it again!

It is a plan with merit. Why not buy that 10K S2 on blatchat. Probably be quicker anyway :-)

aye yer right there, although once I came to my senses today I realised that a 10 day wait for a 12 day old car was having a laugh!

Hopefully all will be sorted and I will let you all know the result, on the list to be done is obviously the engine management light/throttle issue, annoying rattling noise (which either does not happen or I just can't hear it with the soft-top on), handbrake warning light when cornering, rear brake noise, re-alignment of the window washers (so I don't get soaked when the roof is off!) and her first service (which I can't wait to get out of the way so I can really start to have fun!)

I did expect a few issues when I bought her, but for gods sake it cost £27k so I expected better!

When I bought my 7 series in February the guy at BMW said 'I will see you again in 2 years', that's when it gets it's first service!, yes that car cost £50k but that's what I call 'trouble free motoring'

Actually, although I moan about it because it's not remotely equivalent to a Lotus, the wee Suzuki Swift is not bad. You seem to get quite a lot for your money and it's pretty nippy for a car of its size. Would even consider it if I was buying a 2nd wee car for day-to-day use. :thumbsup

Just to lighten the air with a tale of MMC parts servicing from a couple of months ago ...

I needed the little rubber U-shaped strips that go on the leading edge of the rear clam for the exige. I had been told they were given out as a 'recall' type upgrade to stop gravel/stones destroying the edge. I phoned the factory to confirm and was told that indeed they were supplied free, that my car had not been fitted with them, and to contact MMC to have them sent to me.

Me: Hi, I would like to be sent the free rubber edge strip for my s1 exige.
Them: No problem, that will be 12 quid
Me: err, but they are free
Them: Indeed they are, but the factory charge US for them so the system doesnt allow us to order them without payment.
Me: Thats daft. Do I get a refund after I pay?
Them: No.
Me: So the cost of my free item is 12 quid? Umm.. how much would it be if it wasn't free?
Them: 12 pounds.
Me: That sounds more daft, you have obviously made a mistake. Please re-check this and order me the part and send it to me. If there really is an issue could you get the Parts Dept manager to call me.
Them: certainly
One Week Later: No part, No phonecall
Me: (goes through above conversation) did you order the free part.
Them: No
Me: Why not?
Them: You had not paid for it
Me: Why did no one phone me? Why have I been waiting 1 week for a part which you have not bothered to order?
Them: The Manager said he could not be bothered phoning because there was no point.
Me: @@#@&*##$$%@!!!
