Just spent a few hours today drooling in Terminal 5 Heathrow in tax free at Mappin &Webb and their fine selection of Hublot/AP/Zeniths/JLCs etc.

A bit of day dreaming to pass the time.

Ordered myself one of these today to beat the 1st April price increase.

I've also taken a bit of a shine recently to these vintage 70's Omega's, the Time Computer and the Seamaster Scoreboard. Just to be on the safe side, I'll be steering well clear of Ebay when under the influence of alchohol.

Well done Neil! Beautiful watch. If it wasn't for a new kitchen and bathroom I'd love to get my hands on one.

Even having one on my wrist, I'm not so sure.
For a "rare watch"...every fecker has one!

A friend just bought a Hublot Big Bang...I didn't really like it.
He bought it from T5 and 6 weeks later it's already on it's way back to Hublot for repairs....he has had the guarantee extended to 2015 for his troubles...

True but they make nice watches. When I got mine nearly 10 years ago, not many people had them........

Reckon I could get 15-20% off by strategic negociation ?

I've heard of someone paying £2650 for one but there has been a price increase recently I believe so that exact figure may no longer be achievable.

You'd be better going down the lightly used route, they do crop up for sale from time to time and useful savings to be had.

Very nice watch btw Cal...I tried one on a few months ago and was suitably impressed :thumbsup

second hand planet oceans whilst not readily available , do appear from time to time on the usual sites.
Example : AD purchase (jan 2009) for £1400

I prefer the more understated look of the full size Aqua Terra which can he had for around £800 forba nice second hand example :cheers

PO Chrono isn't too popular a choice given the 'cluttered' face (as some think). They don't come up regularly on the sites I've seen.

Hmmmmm seems my plans might be scuppered after reading this on the web :-

Incidentally, my dealer demonstrated how to revive this exquisite timepiece from its slumber. This was, quite simply, to unscrew the crown, pull out to the second outermost position, adjust date to previous days’ date by rotating crown backwards, pull out crown to outermost position and adjust time (clockwise) until date advancess to correct date; set the time to current time and then push in crown until it is in the first extended position (note this is the position achieved by its spring-loaded mechanism upon unscrewing the crown); then, using index finger and thumb, wind the mechanism with 10 winds away from oneself (clockwise motion if crown viewed head on); then push in crown and screw down. I tend to zero the chronometer’s second dial also and then actuate the mechanism according to the DAB radio signal’s advancement to the next minute. A fantastic timepiece such as this ought to be set precisely
.

Unless the above is nonsense then my Seamaster is likely alive & kicking. It's not a battery issue as it's not doing the 2 second sweep so must be related to the above quote w.r.t winding. I had no idea and thought it all revolved around the battery life.
I was just getting into the idea of the PO too so may fire up the SM on Fleabay....

Incidentally - wonder how many Seiko Honda F1 watches are selling now that Jensen Button is performing again ! Sponsors heaven ..... Always thought it would be a nice timepiece for "leisure mode"
